How to get famous with base game careers?

For a heartbeat. The eldest child in the family chose the Business track. Right away he got a brand new pop-up giving him a choice. He finds a discrepancy in the company books, which he can ignore and things will go on as before, Or, he could blow the whistle. He blew the whistle and became a Notable Newcomer. I never found a way for him to nurture his status, so eventually he lost his one and only star of fame. Oh, well. I'm hoping someone else will come along and share with us what can better be done.

I don’t think that career itself gives you any fame options (other then occasional chance cards) but you can have him flaunt his wealth out in public and that’ll raise his star a little.

Really? I'll have to swallow my tongue and just go for it. LOL (I have a very hard time with those who flaunt their wealth or anything else, for that matter.)

They get two opportunities for fame in the career (since he's an investor he will only have one more if he hasn't had it already) and they can invest $5,000 for fame. Other than that you'll have to get creative. here is the list of fame interactions to help you come up with ideas. There are certainly things on the list that it would make sense for a businessman to do even if they aren't exclusive to them.

What a shame then! I guess ill go for a different type of job for him instead, the more creative jobs seems to give the most opportunities for fame

This! I don't own the pack yet, but I'm very interested to know how the fame & reputation work for the other careers.. Thanks for the link @cupid ! :)

@WiggleyTuff - yeah it's so hard to level up in fame with base game careers. In the early stages, I don't think you can rely on the career by itself. My Sim is in the Entertainer career. & I didn't want him doing any Media Production or anything like that. So I had him start streaming his performances with the Drone. & for his fame perks....I picked the one that is specific to skills and careers....which is helping him move along. But it is going by so slow. He is level 1 fame....but I love that drone.....streaming seems to really help him. He also tells jokes and does routines but I don't know how much fame he gets from that....since once the celebrities come....if he had an audience they all rush to see the celebrity.
So it's definitely a huge challenge.

I just had my potential star start singing in public. Within 30 minutes (Real Time) of game play, he gained a star, Notable Newcomer. I just kept at it until he eventually gained a second star. (I know nothing of a drone, streaming or anything else!) I do have him periodically upload something to his Simstagram account and he has close to 200 followers, to date. Since I'm also curious to know about the acting career, I told myself once he reaches his second star, I would put him in that career. He started at level 3, thanks to his second star, no doubt. And he just had his first successful gig. He got a promotion. Would that he could just sing for a living, but at least with this EP, I don't have to rely on 3 extra mods to get him there. I thought about placing him in the Entertainment career, but although he's very proficient at both the guitar and the piano, playing an instrument isn't all that he's about. He's got a level 10 singing skill. Why waste it? I shall follow along and see where this takes him. I'm just enjoying this EP.
