It seems like my Sim child misplaced his notebook / homework and I could not find it anywhere in the house? She did not go elsewhere in the world but only in their house but I think she misplaced it. ...

If the homework is really missing, go to your bookshelf (adult sim and teen) and select Buy Books. Scroll down until you find the Homework. Child is yellow and Teen is blue :)
You can also sort the list of books by type. Select: children and it should be one of the first few things in the list.
