How to make an existing sim a mermaid?

I don't know (yet) the cheat to make an existing sim a mermaid, sorry.

As for babies of mermaids/humans they most likely (probably) have a 50/50 chance, just like vampires.

Eating one Mermadic Kelp turns a human sim into a mermaid. Mermadic Kelp can be found through beachcombing, beach-cleaning or exploring the cave on Mua Pel'am (credit to @ShadyLady_DQ as I didn't know this), or you can purchase them from the rewards store for 500 satisfaction points each. Eating two Mermadic Kelp as a mermaid turns a sim back into a human.

And yes, babies born to a human and mermaid sim have a 50/50 chance to be mermaid, like the other occult states.

If you aren't opposed to using cheats, you can use bb.showhiddenobjects and find Mermadic Kelp for free in Buy mode. As others have stated, there is no animation for turning into a mermaid, but you'll know it has worked if the sim gets an energized "Strange Sensations" moodlet. At this point, my sims don't have the "hydration" need replace "hygiene" until I actually send them to swim in the ocean, so it might be that last important step to actually turn your sim into a mermaid.

@GGgkkg thanks but do you know how to make a sim a mermaid without playing them? I only play my one legacy family and just sometimes create the heir/heiress' partners in CAS and just put them into the game somewhere but don't play them until my heir/heiress meets them in the game and asks them to move in.

I'm not sure if you could make a sim a mermaid without playing them, but you could always make them a mermaid then just mark them as unplayed in the household management bin, and they'll still act like every other NPC.

@Simpkin if your making the partner in CAS than you can make a mermaid like you do an alien or a vampire, you can go into CAS add a new sim>select occult sim>select mermaid.

It should be noted that the cheats can sometimes result in things like vampires that can't earn points toward progression and whatnot. Since the mermaids use the same sort of progression system that the vampires do I imagine that similar problems could occur. If you're looking to make a preexisting sim into a mermaid I suggest just going the in-game route.

@OEII1001 I didn't know that mermaids had a progression system like vampires thought they just had interactions. I'll have to keep an eye on my mermaid than cause i had found the mermaid kelp in debug cause i had made a sim in preparation for island living and wanted her to be a mermaid so use cheats since there no way other than the kelp to turn an existing sim into one.

I'm aware of this but I have a different problem. My sim is made already. I don't really play occults but I wanna try it once. I thought there was a easy way to cheat it lol.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have not played a mermaid yet. You may be correct, as I assumed that they would follow the same template as vampires. If not, then please disregard my remarks.

Is there like a trait you can add a sim to make them a vampire or something? Maybe it's the same for a mermaid, just gotta change the vampire in the cheat to mermaid?
