So, I made a Halloween holiday for my sims and there's an option to trick or treat on that holiday. It says Sim teens and children love the tradition but what I cannot figure out is how to do it. I bought the candy bowl and had them take a piece and it didn't complete that task. Do I have to have them go to houses and knock on doors? That's the only thing I can think of, which is real trick or treating anyways.

It’s actually very disappointing : your sims can’t go trick or treating, all you can do is wait for a disguised sim (kid or teen) to show up at your door and if you click on them you’ll have a “trick or treat” interaction but it doesn’t really do anything.

Halloween is my favourite too so double down the disappointment. I actually ended up removing it from my holiday in my latest save, it feels like less of a let down when no one shows up then.

This feature is broken.....I have actually reported it on the HQ forums and provided a save....hopefully they made something out of it. It seems almost no one is getting trick or treaters spawning.As for the trick or treat interaction IT IS in the game. It was actually even patched with a holiday event back in the day so they have the code for it, and sims are suppose to actually animate and give a little candy to others. Tricking is just the scare interaction recycled....lol If you threw a Spooky Party you used to be able to use these interactions but they no longer appeared after Seasons. Tried it and it worked as intended. I don't have Seasons, so not completing the tradition isn't an issue for me.

First the elderly Reed couple prepared a camping table. Then I switched to a household with a child and toddler to bring them over as visitors.
The Reeds forgot to actually make popcorn, so my visiting sims had to do it themselves.
They haven't yet knocked at the door, so the rest of the house is still inaccessable.

I couldn't put the spooky bowl on the porch for some reason, so it went on the lawn. Padme was able to use it.
Despite this Max (who was in my group, but not controlable) pranked the Reeds. Ah, well, that's Max Villareal for you, I guess.

Padme then grabbed a plate of cookies for her little sister, Sigrun. With no seating nearby, Sigrun turned around herself a few times, but eventually settled on the pavement and ate the cookies.
There was also the option to put the food in a lunch bag, in case you want your kids to take some home.

The kids then parttook of the popcorn while the accompanying adult helped himself to the Kava the Reeds had prepared beforehand. He called everyone, so the hosts finally showed up.

I then had Padme knock at the door. She found another spooky bowl inside the house that she tried, too.

Right picture: it's hard to see, but that's a fire cracker the Reeds had placed on the lawn. I made Padme open ten or so of them before she eventually got a plushie. It landed in her inventory to keep.

And later I caught a glimpse of Dorothy Reed cleaning up behind the kids.

Is there any way to add more logos to the Calendar? I feel like there isn't enough to express the holiday I wanna make.

How is it ok that this feature is broken and still not fixed???! How long has Seasons been out? I was just looking up the trick or treat situation and found this thread. Guess I'll just wait till a mod comes out. :( Bologna.

I had trick or treaters a few times in my game, but it stopped working at some point. Very disappointing this time of year especially.

Is the Flower Bunny broken, too? I just had a no-show. But once, I found the bunny down the path away from a house, he never came to the lot, so I don’t know if that just happens sometimes.

Holidays I use are:
All the basic ones
1 Spring: New Year’s Day - Gnomes because I found them annoying on Harvestfest and didn’t like the timing for planting seeds. Also cleaning is an activity along with gardening.
1 Summer: Naked Gardening Day - Gardening, Streaking
2nd week of Summer usually I have at least 3 days of “vacation” depending on vacay days available, then for each day I put something like Art & Music Appreciation or Games to give them some inspiration of a thing to do.
14 Summer: Summerfest BBQ - bbq, party and tell stories
1 Winter: Super Sports Sunday - watch sports, fire enjoyment
(Leading up to Winterfest, I have 2):
5 Winter: Get Ready for Winterfest - baking, decorating, and I use this time to start looking for handmade gifts they can make/give to one another. I like decorating a bit “early” to get in the mood!
6 Winter: Winterfest Eve - Invite guests, grand meal, fire, Father Winter
Then the 7th of Winter is Winterfest

I’d love to have more holiday activities to choose from and icons, as well. I would also love to be able to simply move a holiday to a different day rather than recreate it for that day.

I'd appreciate that too! I was actually just thinking about it the other day when I was moving a holiday.

Not sure about the flower bunny either TBH. That seems to always work in my game, but sometimes if I travel then the bunny will visit that lot instead of my home lot so maybe you missed them that way?

I also had my very first ever trick or treater last night! Just one... but still. I was pretty excited because it was an older save that I forgot to edit it out of (not that I actually expect it to happen anymore). I might go back and try other saves in the future now and turn it back on. Maybe a new save would have more because there's more children? Exciting as it was, I still believe it's broken, ONE trick or treater in how many holidays and years I've been playing... :o
