Streaming with the drone while your Sims does activities adds 125 followers every half hour to forty five minutes. It does not add a video to the drone's inventory.
Recording a video with the drone creates a video that then has to be transferred to the video station for editing, adding transitions, then adding effects before your Sim uploads it. And your Sim has to be standing close to the drone and the video station when transferring the video from the drone. Keeping the drone in a Sim's personal inventory then placing it near the video station before doing the transfer is the best way to do this because our Sims can't be directed to do the transfer unless all three are in the same room.
Upgrading the video station and the drone results in higher quality videos. Higher skill in Media Production also helps raise the quality of finished videos. Adding a lithium battery is helpful because it allows the drone to be active for a longer period of time. When doing a neighborhood recording, or recording a certain Sim, the drone will return to the active lot if it doesn't run out of battery life. And the only way to find it if the battery dies, is to go out and look for it.
