Yeah I think some players don’t like the unexpected. But to me that’s what made the first and second game of the series so much fun. Even when the first game came to be they were presenting it and Same sex couples were not suppose to be part of the game.
And during the presentation two females had a first kiss. Quite the happy accident if you ask me. And because of that the sims became one of a kind game for that time.
I love the things they do or personalities they seem to create over time. I think it’s what makes the game exciting. Me being a writer, I love to create stories, I get ideas all the time. However when I write it, all I’m really doing is setting the stage because once it’s set, the characters begin to take on a life of their own and I ll think the story is going one direction and then out of nowhere I ll have to change it due to a characters motive or reaction in the story. It never goes as planned.
And that’s what I use to love about the sims is the surprising stories that could come from it. While I like to set the stage and create circumstances, I don’t like having complete control of what happens to them.
Even as a writer who loves to write fictional stories I don’t like feeling in complete control. In my opinion it’s how a game like the sims should be. And I’m glad for once I’m finally seeing it in this game.
Because without that I just can’t get into it. I need the characters to take a little bit of life of their own and then I can be a guiding force. But I don’t want to just force. I want them to form their own personalities and take the wheel and steer while I brake or hit the accelerator.
