I don't understand what's with this case - work in the police
My sim works in the police as an officer, and she has a mission to start a case map, but when I click on the map it appears to go to patrol and there is nothing there. Adds a picture

In the police station you can find a large bulletin board in the office area in front of all the desks. When you click on that board one of the options should be to start a case map. As you progress in the case you will then be able to add more clues to the bulletin board.
Edit: Does your sim actually have a case assigned to themself? Otherwise you have to click on the computer first to start a new case. I don't know the name of the interaction, it might be something like "Get case assignment".
