I found someone “eccentric” enough for Jacques Villareal
Catarina Lynx, from the Cats and Dogs EP. I’ll often play premades but he was one that I had never touched until recently, and only really because I was interested in playing their household because Max is best friends with one of my sims.
MC Command Center left him retired and mostly just hanging around home while his kids were at school, so I decided to have him adopt a cat to entertain him or keep him company or whatever. I decided on a sphynx named Ramzie (which I thought suited him perfectly because of the breed, lol).
Anyway, he met Catarina at the vet while he was there to have the cat spayed, and his first ever interaction with her was to autonomously yell at her. I didn’t have him chat her up that day, but they eventually became good friends after it dawned on me that they might make an interesting couple. I’d never even considered trying to pair him up with anybody before, honestly. They were out in the park playing chess together when he essentially picked a verbal, then physical, fight with some townie (which he won). She obviously reacted to it while it was happening, but as is the nature of The Sims 4 went back to what she was doing before, unphased. In my storytelling type mind, though, I played it off like she was either impressed or at the very least didn’t care, and he was feeling confident from winning the fight so I had him use a bold pickup line on her and it was successful, lol.
I’m actually looking forward to expanding on their relationship because I find it amusing and endearing in this odd way. Jacques doesn’t really give off a sinister sort of vibe to me, despite the implied bio with his wife and the negative traits/career... The majority of the time he’s pretty kind to everybody, just talks to himself a lot as an insane sim. In my mind, I like to pretend his wife just left him because she couldn’t take it anymore, and I’ve toyed with the idea of “bringing her back” using the genetics feature in CAS. I made a sim that favors Max quite a bit and figured maybe I could introduce her eventually as someone who could give the kids some actual real parenting, because he’s pretty obtuse, and it could make for some drama.
Even if I don’t do that, I think I’m planning on giving Jacques and Cat somewhat of an unplanned pregnancy; it could be really funny to have a toddler running around in that mansion and see how they turn out. Funnily enough, I could see Hugo maybe being interested in Cat later on in life given the shared interest in food/proximity, but I’m not hugely into the idea of muddying things up to that extent, lol.
By the way, as a cat lover myself, I don’t necessarily see them as being as eccentric as the whole “crazy cat lady” stereotype like I’m guessing it’s supposed to be with her, because as far as I’m concerned loving cats to a big extent is still pretty normal. :p But they’re two sims with distinct personalities and I’m having a lot of fun playing them, all the same!
