I hate my cowplants! Please change my mind...

I mean.. there's not much convincing to do. If you don't like them then you don't like them.

They serve a purpose for players who need a handy way to kill off sims or want to play around with the life essence thing, but if you aren't one of those players then it's not going to be much more than a high-maintenance decoration. They do have some other minor perks, like the emotion essences and the fact that they can allow you to gain gardening experience during times when the rest of the garden doesn't need tending.

I don't personally find a use for them with my playstyle, but I can respect that they're useful for a lot of other people.

You should let them listen to music, it makes them dance. Other than that, they're not much fun.

The only family with a cow plant is my crazy scientist family. It was a scientist lady who loves to experiment, living with her science hating loner brother who got abducted. It just adds to their story and I got sad when the cow plant died after not playing with that family for a while. I think they’re really cute and weird lol they remind me of pets. I prefer them over the evil gnomes personally.. Some people don’t like the cow plants since it’s not realistic or because of the fear of them eating their sims (which barely ever happens). They just swallow your sim and spit them back up lol but If the cow plants are more of a pain for you, then just don’t play with them.

I've only grown a cowplant in a handful of household and they always die after a few days. I just use their corpse to decorate the yard or delete them.

I've only grown them to fulfill the Freelance Botanist aspiration and then immediately delete them. I don't like them either, they're creepy! o.O I will admit the one time I kept one just to see what all the fuss was about, I forgot about it and when it died the skeleton was pretty cool.

I can only see myself planting/growing another one for the skeleton on a creepy, haunted/gothic lot or perhaps a cemetery. Might be fun to put one in those test tube things Scientists get too. Could pretend it's the remains of an alien from another planet or something. :)

So in conclusion, I can't really think of a reason for you not to hate them since I don't like them myself except after they're dead for decoration. :p

I don't use them all that much either. I usually toss them in household inventory after their use in the botanist aspiration. I would probably keep them out if they weren't so high maintenance .. but I'd rather not be tied to taking care of them everyday.
I do like the thought of using them for the essence(s) in gameplay but I play with aging off and I don't need the mood potions I can get from them as I know what objects or activities to do to get my sims in whatever mood I want them in. It's a lot of work and set up to get an unsuspecting sim to take the cake.
Mostly they are a lot of work for what you get.
That said they are iconic to the Sims... I wouldn't want them removed. To me they are on par with something like burglars. If we ever get them in game I'll be happy.. thrilled even. I'll let them break in a few times and enjoy whatever the devs build in around that event. Then I'll put out an alarm and forget about it until I want to tell a story that includes them. That's what I do with cowplants.

I like the sound of the bell and watching them dance. Playing with them is also ok. I had one that felt like a family member, but when the original sim died and a new family moved in, it didn't really fit their story so I deleted it. I now have two cowplants on Von Haunt Estate. I like having a bit of danger element there >:)
