I Have Low Expectations for EP10

I am really curious on what it could be. I hope it’s something to expand family gameplay or something more down to earth. I would love more stuff for my Sims to do or places to travel to! ??

I am not riding a hype train, though. I was hyped about Island pack and was somewhat disappointed by the mermaid stuff. (I LOVE mermaids. Sims 4 and Sims 3 both have decent mermaids, but Sims 3 still wins for having a Kraken and sharks and underwater lots, at least.)

I am going to keep enjoying my Sims 4 packs and past Sims games as well while I wait and not hype up anymore, hehe.

If it's a romance pack I have very low expectations it will meet my expectations. I have a very high bar. The day they can put the beds back together and make cuddling look right and be in the game, I might throw them a bone. I can not and will not cheer things that were done better in older games with less money and just as many budget and or time contrants than now. Or just as aggravating. If they release a romance pack without a complete overhaul to dating (who goes on a date to do something ten times, omg) system then no, I won't say ooh, isn't that cute! Or if it's about weddings I really don't want to read (we already know there are problems with weddings) omg, my Sims didn't sit down for the new wedding arch! like hello, they haven't been sitting since 2014.

But what I do expect (experience of TS4) a new aspiration that will have the same four food groups to use to fill levels. Pick one from the same four food groups. Workout, Sim pc, Painting, Writing. Reward-no.
New reward traits to earn any time? No.
New traits to play that doesn't use tense as the backdrop? no.
New objects renamed using same animations and bhavs as the ones before? yes.
Everyone to praise CAS assets remeshed or altered and recolored...yes. Sleeveless mesh altered to add sleeves. yay. :/
World even smaller than MP, yes. Excuse, we had to build this and this and re-alter some meshes.
Skintones as part of the selling point of why to buy the next pack...yes.
Day one: My game doesn' work! the new thingy isn't working right...Maxis fix it! I do expect that.\
Maxis: We hear you but no the next ten packs will not include anything the most of you have been requesting we had to get new players and made a pack to get new players, we thought you might like this reused assets again. Pop the bubble, most who have eyes know what is a reused animation and asset and not blind to how it's being resold and resold to players as new gameplay.
Modders swoop in to save Maxis EP again, by adding and fixing whatever is subpar, then gamechangers talk about how cute that new shirt is (the one that was altered to add sleeves and a new recolor) or that new clutter piece and everyone cheers how great TS4 is, again.
And of course the same saying "don't you badmouth Maxis, they work hard". Yes, at what? Reusing the same gameplay that already exists in the base game. Reimagining it all to resell it back to the customer in TS4 over and over.

I'm sorry if this is harsh words to some but I have a much higher bar than any of this.

I have a feeling that it's going to be a food pack. The sim gurus have been having a twitter cooking competition lately. Ninja knows his way around the kitchen and is definitely leading. Maybe the next pack is about romance but in a round about way, like the saying "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". :lol:

Just to react to no one in particular...

We have enough food! That’s one of the (only) things this game does well and thoroughly. Cooking, Gourmet Cooking, Experimental recipes, baking, it’s a lot. More food stuff alone wouldn’t feel like gameplay to me, but if there was new gameplay to create the food, then maybe?

Also, I don’t care for pirates and I don’t see how they fit into the game, as modernized as it is. We don’t even get the newspaper. If they made an EP where we could set the century or decade we’re in, then yeah! Sure. But pirates wouldn’t be at the top of my list and you know they would only make sense in a water world with ships passing each other. I don’t get what they would do otherwise. But yeah I’m sure we’d be seeing the same old animations with swordfighting. I suppose to EA that’s a good excuse to add pirates, because we already have that animation.

I have totally lost faith that we will ever see a great expansion again. When I look at all the missed opportunities in past packs, and the decisions made on what content to add, I don’t get excited for more. I enjoy the game as much as I can but I’m more interested in what the modding community can do at this point. The constant game updates are the only thing holding me back from modding my game, and I am ready for those to stop so I can start making my game how I want it to be.

@Cinebar I don't think it's any harsher than the other comments you've been making for the last six years. If that's what you think then you're entitled to say it without apologizing.

I don't have any particular expectations for EP 10. Just looking forward to more fun experiences for my sims. :)

Ugh, I hope it's not a food based pack. We already have way too much of that, plus Dine Out. How many more blobs of color do my Sims really need to choose from to stuff in their mouths so they can chew for two hours? Lol. But I know that many people really wanted to play as Chefs so that aspect would make sense. If it's that, I just hope it's connected to a larger theme that I can make use of. I don't like skipping EPs (like I did with Eco) because it's a lot of content. I guess if I really don't like it much I can always catch it on the next half off sale like I did with Get Famous.

But now it has me thinking...what if it's a new career-based pack and Chef is only one of the choices? Kind of a Get To Work part 2. They certainly have been focusing a lot on various jobs and careers.

Never had a pack that disappointed me before. I am going to set my expectations to high this time :o

Are they still going for something unique and unexpected for this one as well?
