Well one big difference is that once the load time for sims 3 was over you were in game and didn't face another load time unless going abroad or to uni. :)

Yes the load times for TS4 seem very short, but remember that this is just the base game not the game and several Eps, and also we have no idea what the computer specs were for those demos. Additionally by the sounds of it players are going to face a lot of load times, so although they seem short it will soon add up to several minutes if you want to visit several lots during a sims day.

Loading times will be dictated by your specs and is not universal. When I loaded Sims 3 up it took up to a minute and a half and there is no load time for entering lots in Sims 3. However, I will say this about Sims 3 it did not have the flair of interactions that Sims 2 had. P.S. My load times are with all Worlds, EPs and SPs.

When I started to play Sims 3 it loaded rather quickly as well. At the moment it takes about 7 to 10 minutes, but that's with all EP's and SP's attached to it.

Just timed it with all ep's etc. um gosh stand back I'm about to gloat again. It took 15 seconds. lil bar just flew like a lil birdy I forget what my specs are. *waves hand vaguely*

Exactly. One load time may be short in TS4, but we're not talking about one, we're talking about gameplay that will be littered with them, every time your Sim wants to go to another lot or neighbourhood, and every time you want to switch between playable Sims that are on different lots or neighbourhoods. Let's not forget as well that one loading screen does not come on its own, you have one to get there and one to get back. Just like TS2, these loading screens will very quickly add up, and they will only get longer with EPs and SPs/Content Packs.

My load time for a TS3 home world is no more than 5 minutes. Fast would be 2 for me, slow would be 5, but usually it's somewhere in the middle. WA worlds and University take a little longer, maybe 1-2 minutes extra. Oasis Landing is usually slightly less than a home world. So, really, it will only take 4-10 30 second loads in TS4 to equal the same time I wait for a home world in TS3. That's maybe 1-3 days of playing. In an average play session, I probably get through at least 5 days, so these loading screens in TS4 will add up to more time waiting.

im actually concerned that the load time was 30 seconds during a demo - my assumption the demo is played on a work station - a much higher capacity computer even compared to a gaming computer. it is also possible this demo was not running off of the full game engine

and like whats others have pointed out the content and game play is just limited to base

if my assumptions are correct then the average simmer's computer will be much slower at loading and all of us will have increased load time the more we add content and EPs

i agree with this. When I play just the sims 3 base game my game loads in about a minute or two. When I add in all of the EPs/SPs the loading time becomes a lot longer. For the sims 4 since it's just the base game the load time will probably be relatively quick even on peoples home computers. As the content increases with Eps/SPs/Store content, the load times will probably get longer.

That would be so great if they really are that short for everyone! Fingers crossed! :D

In Sims 3 there some places that needed a rabbit hole and there were some that didn't need them.
