Hmm, interesting topic. I think that at times, we do have to pay extra for things that should have been in the base game and there's no way around it and other times I completely understand and have no problem shelling out the extra cash for new items and gameplay. Hey, it is the Sims after all and it's been this way since the first Sims hit the shelves. But a few examples of things we should NOT have to pay for that they did make paid content:
1. Popcorn and Ice Cream - there's absolutely no reason why a game that includes a microwave and refrigerator did not already have these as options.
2. Movies - Um, why exactly couldn't this have been in the base game? Or an update?
3. Hot Tubs - sorry but there should have been at least one in the base game, and are they ever gonna add anymore than the TWO that came with Perfect Patio? I'm not holding my breath...
Now, saying all of that, like a true Simmer I've bought most of the content for TS4, outside of Spooky Stuff. And I probably will still do that with the coming SPs, GPs and EPs, but sometimes I do think EA gets a bit greedy. It's understandable to have to pay for things like Pets and Seasons, but sometimes they be tripping.
Oh and we shall RIOT if Toddlers are not in a free update. It would be the ultimate slap in the face if they asked us to pay for that.
