I need help with entablatures please

Hi. When I use entablatures, there's always a gap in the corner where the end piece and the next regular piece connect in a 90 degree turn.

I've tried using just one wall of entablature pieces at a time and then deleting that wall before applying the next wall of entablatures pieces,... but there's still a gap where the wall once stood.

I have to manually merge the corner entablature piece with the next entablature piece to connect them, but I can still tell the two pieces have been manually merged rather than automatically snapped in place.

If you zoom in on this pic, you can see the discoloration in the right, front corner of the entablature, where the two pieces have been manually laid over each other.

Is there a way to avoid this problem or do you just have to live with it?

Thank you.

  • After a quick Google search to see what entablatures were, I finally realized what you're talking about. I never knew that was what they were called, I just always called it trim. :)

Have you tried putting a foundation piece under the roof to see if it made it more seamless? I don't usually do 2-story porches in my builds so I'm not sure how to really help without going in and recreating the build.
  • Lol, I didn't know what an entablature was until a few weeks ago myself.
Yeah, the base game trim pieces can be used as entablatures too... and they even have fitting corner pieces as well.
Only problem is they're so thin it looks weird looking up under the porch pediment.

My entablatures are CC and are about the thickness of those big columns, giving a heavy weight to the entablature. I just wish there were a way to better connect the corners.

Freezes are actually only one of three parts that make up an entablature in real life. The freeze is the middle section.
I would just use a freeze as an entablature but they're not stable when you remove the balcony on a two-story porch. Move the camera and they disappear.

  • My goodness, it’s no wonder that something called “entablature” is causing issues in your game. It sounds like some horrid type of verucca! ?

    Jokes aside, nice build!
Hmmm…I noticed the discoloration. Is the porch just 1 room or is it divided into invisible sections? I sometimes encounter similar issues whenever my rooms aren’t “complete.” Personally I would re-build the porch “room” and see if the issue persists.

You also mentioned that the trim is CC, do you have the same problem with a base game trim? Also, what happens if you take away the columns? Are you using MOO?

It’s subtle, but knowing that it’s there would drive me a little nuts too, although I’ve been able to live with the lack of customizable ceilings (why on earth are they still white?!) for 8 years and that’s saying something.
I hope you’ll be able to fix the issue. Best of luck! ??

  • I'm just here for a giggle over the real name of those - I just call them trim, even though I did know the correct term thanks to a long running Architecture Digest magazine sub and carpenters in the family. It always reminds me of proper punctuation names - though 90% of the population almost never uses them lol.

    Hahaha, no warts here! lol

Thanks, I'll definitely check the roof and slap a platform on it for good measure. I'll let you know if that fixes it.
And I couldn't agree more about the white ceilings.

edit to add: I haven't removed the columns to see if that makes a difference, but I'll check that too.
Yes, I use MOO. I have the Better Build/Buy and T.O.O.L. mods, so that's always on by default.
    Thanks again.
