Amazing tips in here. But since I'm not an artist Don't underestimate the usefulness of the gallery. I never use their sims per se just the base. I have created really amazing sims from using gallery bases to work with then editing from there.
I use all possible hash tags when searching something too. And not just hashtags the name section sometimes gives different results.
Try things like asian, Japan, japanese, kawaii, and anything related to what you're looking for.
With snowy escape coming I bet there's more than usual.
