I was not for sure if I should have posted this in the Sims 4 or the Sims 2 forum, because this is about toddlers from both games. Today I took a brake from Sims 4 to play a family in Sims 2. This family has two toddlers, and something I noticed was how fast it took toddlers in Sims 2 to gain a their full rest when sleeping. It seems like their parents would put them down, and normally would use this time to catch up on their own rest or to take care of some other important needs, but they gained their rest so fast it seemed a bit unreal. In Sims 4. toddlers take forever in getting fully rested. This is not a complaint or anything, just an observation.

If they were potty trained and knew how to walk they could climb out of their cribs to use the potty- if they had to. Also, left in the crib, they get tried and hungry... after a little bit the parent could give them a midnight feeding and put them back in the crib. They'll go back to sleep.
IRL... My son didn't sleep the night until he was 6. Your RL isn't everyone's RL.
*dis my fav game cause ya'll don't know how to play it well. :humf:
You mean I'm not the only one that leaves toddlers to settle themselves in TS2? :p
I think them singing nursery rhymes is the cutest thing ever! That and the huggle!
I think their crawling is cute. I actually wish the toddlers in TS4 could have crawled.

Exactly this - I quite enjoy just sitting back and observing toddlers in TS4 as they feel so lively and fully realized. Having a toddler sim is as joyful, bizarre and interesting as having a real toddler which I appreciate. :D

I like that toddlers need so much sleep. Not only it's realistic, but it's also great for parents to have still time for intimacy before sleep.

This bothers me though. I had a toddler almost taken by the social worker just because of that. I wish hunger and bladder needs could drop slower during sleep for toddlers.

They're fine, you guys. Lol. Just because you've received a warning doesn't mean the tots will get snatched immediately. I've never woken a toddler just because their hunger was in the red. Heck, I didn't feed a toddler for approx. 24 hours and he still wasn't taken away. Maybe it was 2 days? I don't remember. In fact, all needs were in the red because he was stuck outside of an apartment and I wasted a lot of time trying to fix him. (Resetsim wouldn't even work.)
I think we have more time to turn things around than we did with the previous games. You don't have to wake them for feeding, you just feel compelled to. ;)

your toddler probably didn't get taken because the game couldn't find him. I had toddlers stuck between the elevator and wall myself. many simmers have had toddlers taken even without a warning, or a warning then minutes later there gone, and though in the red and starving, were just about to sit and eat. They do get taken, I've only had one taken and that was because his stats had frozen, he was hungry but all was still in the green. I didn't save.
Toddlers are the best this game! <3 I love how they have personalities, unlike the Sims 3. The poor parents also don't have to spend hours on end teaching them to walk and talk, which is so boring compared to how the toddlers can do cute activities to gain those skills now! Can even actually talk to people about things, and better friendship interactions with other toddlers (compared to TS3, not sure about 2). They're way more exciting this version :)
Wow a lot of people seem to have the starving problem! I think maybe I did on my first one but that was before I figured out to have them nap midday and literally feed them dinner and potty then straight to bed on a completely full stomach. Maybe the type of food they eat for dinner is the issue? I usually drag food from the family meal onto the high chair or the toddler sits on the floor and eats the regular meal not toddler food.

No, he was outside of the apartment in the open but in a spot where none of the adults could pick him up. It was really weird and not a one time thing because it kept happening.
I don't doubt that toddlers can get taken, it's just in my game I don't have a panic attack if they get hungry while sleeping. I let my tots sleep and feed them when they awaken. No big deal. Actually, I call the nanny because I'm not in any rush to feed them. I guess I'm taking a gamble, but so far all of my tots are fine.
I even have a 6 toddler/single mom household where the hunger bars are often in the red. (They're not starved for days, however.) I'm always being warned, but I don't care. I try not to stress myself out by worrying; if one ever gets taken away unintentionally, I'll just reload my save, lol. Unless I'm playing a scenario where the goal is to get them taken away... >:)
OMG this Sims 4 toddlers are making me crazy. Had twins their needs no matter what fun / sleep / bladder / hunger go down so quickly. The bladder and hunger and sleep especially take longer when doing it. Using the potty chair watching them I'm thinking why isn't it leveling up (turning green) I feed them put them to bed and instantly they are hungry again. The only thing I like about them so far is that is seems they can learn skills a little faster certain skills. Sorry but I have to say this is starting to ruin my game play. I don't even like the family now ugh. I have a child well she's an adult now in real life and trust me she was NOT this hard to deal with whatsoever.
I feel that the Sims 4 toddler needs are more realistic and like that they sleep longer as it actually gives my sims time to do things beside care for them all day. I noticed Sims 2 needs in general drop really fast and my sims with multiple babies and toddlers struggled a lot back when I played.
