I sort of understand why cats and dogs can run away but at the same time I do not like it.

so I was playing and my cat ran away for me not paying attention to it. which from a realalsitc standpoint is fine(if not a bit inconistant) i understand that some if not many players like the idea of pets running away however there are some where it ruins the gameplay for them and they have no choice but to deal with them. I feel like this is part of the reason pets are not a bit fruraturating in this pack. again i understand why pets can run away but there was really no warning i feel like a warning before the pet decides to run away would have been nice again i did mess up by not giving it enough attention but again a warning to fix the issue would have been nice rather then my pet just deicdeing to run away because i ignored it. while i can understand many people like this feature what about people who do not like it what are people like me who do not like it supposed to do. and this is not a feature you can just ignore and not play if you want to play pets you have to play this way otherwise pets will run away and there is no way to prevent them from running away if you ignore them and no warning as well.

  • They should add a reward trait or something that makes pet not want to run away.

thank you this would have worked prefectly! why is there nothing like this. like i said i have to play taking care of pets otherwise they run away there is way around it. and i do want the pets i just dont want them to run away and i sometimes i do not remeber to give them attention or know i did not give them enough attention(for recored this is part of the reason i do not have a real pet myself if you want to say well its like this in real life would you treat your pet like that in real life) also (if you want to add well if you cant take care of a pet in the game do not get one seriously its a game i should not have to have the same responslies for taking care of a pet like i would in real life and if you also add then why are you playing this game where you simulate life well because i should have the option of playing however i want to play but when the game froces you to take of your pet like this and gives you no warning you did not do a good enough of a job then i feel like i lose out an options on how to play the game)

Tried locking the doors for them?

i have not does that work for you.
  • I haven’t had mine run anyway.....I keep my front door locked to pets so not sure if they can even run away anyway.....but it’s my understanding they return after a day or two so shouldn’t be a big deal.

I think they only return after a day or two if you remember to put out a missing report. But I agree, they should add a reward trait for this, especially if you have the new aspiration that came with Cats & Dogs. If someone could try the whole locked door thing, and come back to us, I'd greatly appreciate it, but if you have a pet door, I think they can leave out of that, too.

Good to know about submitting the missing report....haven't encountered the situation yet. I keep the front door locked and my backyard, which has a pet door and a regular door, is fenced in. So not sure how they would get out. If I get the time, I'll try to test it by leaving the front door unlocked and, if they run away, re-loading the game with the door locked.

Have you reach to the Companion Statues on your relationship with your pets. Not many people check the relationship status when the runaway occurs.

I played in a large family where my dog had the Companion Status with the father, and I'm rather sure she ran away anyways.
