This has happened to me as well and I posted about it when I noticed because in researching, it seems if we download him from he gallery, he will be missed his special power, whatever that was. I have had neighborhood stories turned off for the majority of my save play. I'd say 25% was played before I realized I needed to turn it off because npcs started dying. He was not one of them though. Mortimer was and it bothered me. I only noticed when I went to the hollow to have my sim find someone to turn him. I am going to download him I guess. It just doesn't make sense and I'd like to know why. I mean he was immortal right? Maybe we should open a bug report about this. I kind of feel maybe it can be considered one. So much to do in the game and people don't notice stuff at the same time but I'm feeling like there might be a lot more people than us that are missing Vlad.
The Goths are gone from my save, too, but I just assumed they had all died because I've been playing with that save for over two years now and only turned off auto-aging after about a year or so. For all I know, they might have died out before that. Same with the Pancakes and the Wards. Agnes and Agatha Crumplebottom are still there, though phew 😁
I've downloaded Vlad from the gallery now and according to the description, this should be the original version that came with the Vampire pack. However, I agree it doesn't make sense he disappears at all. He's immortal and powerful, and I don't think he'll do something stupid like take a sunbath.I suppose it depends on what vampire perks he has. I don't know if the npc vampires go by the same rules as played vampires. My sims can sunbathe and do not hide out in the shadows but I set them up to be able to. Maybe his could have been set differently but, I am not feelin that that is the issue. I also wonder, if we download him, will he start making the house and phone calls to people again. In fact, I am going to go move that former butler out of Vlad's house and download him and move him back in. I turned my main sims into vampires recently so it is as good of a time as any.
I've been wondering about the house and phone calls too, and I think I'll have to unlock a few doors for him to find out if he makes those house calls. At the moment, most households have their doors locked for vampires because that habit of his became very annoying 😁Also, I think that one Sim who's so keen on meeting vampires will pay him a visit.
I'm also wondering if keeping him in "My households" after downloading him will prevent him from disappearing again.
