I'm still custom content free at the moment...

Some of the hair and clothes that I see in other players videos or pictures are making it hard to resist though. :D

For me my must haves are mostly for CAS.. wedding gowns & veils, nail polish/long nails, eyelashes, jewelry, and for some reason I love collecting wall decor/art.

I tried Back To School mod (I think it was called like that) when it was first released because I was (and still am) desperate for some kind of education pack. Even though the mod was really entertaining, it caused some glitches to my game so I've been playing CC/mods-free ever since.

I use mccc. I've gone to the dark side and used plenty of mods and custom content, but I feel like the mods ruin my gameplay experience because I'm preoccupied with other stuff from the mods. Custom content is nice, but it leads to glitches and I can't find pieces that need removal because I'm on a mac. So I'm cc free at the moment. The only thing I use is the command center mod.

I was playing almost cc and mod free then I went overboard here just after GET Famous, but since the last patch I have been slow to play with mods. I actually am enjoying the game a bit more. MCCC sometimes just does a number on relationships in unplayed sims, on would think I have a bunch of player sims with no thought of birth control. I have added UIcheats extension cause I just have to have that one. Only last night I put some CC in but honestly might take it back out, don't need it for game play.

I use cc and mods but I can play without. Not essential.
The ones I found most useful are the no-weird-body-shapes one and no/less city living names. I reomved the body shape mod recently and I already saw a man with skinny arms and no shoulders and big belly and bottom.

I don’t do a lot, but I did MCCC early in TS4 purely because I needed custom aging.
Normal is/was pretty good except Adult stage default is far too short for my liking.
Now I’m playing a custom aging much closer to default Long.

I too played CC free for a long time. Then I started to make movies, and it's really difficult making the sims behave like you plan without some mods. i don't like poses, so I found the UI mod that allows me to adjust lots of stuff by a few clicks. Now I might even use it while playing. I rarely play without making film/machinima, so when I actually do play to say test out a new pack, I don't want to ruin new experienced with the need of eating or using toilet and stuff, and if I enter a new house in the morning I prefer my sims to be well rested and a little hungry, and stuff like that. I also downloaded a few objects, but mostly to use as decor when filming. No clothing that I can think of.

I don’t use CC or mods. I am not computer savvy, and with all the updates it would be too complicated for me, especially if there were problems. I know in past iterations of the sims, when my daughter and I shared a computer she would put in custom content, some which I really liked (but she knew much more about computers than I do..... lol. When they were coming out with stuff packs every month I didn’t really miss not using custom content because there were always a couple new hairstyles, clothes and objects. And, I thought the stuff packs were getting better and better. I really even enjoy the my first pet stuff which many complained about (but, not for the clothes, my sim animals rarely wear clothes ). I would like to see more pet objects like birds, lizards, snakes, bunnies, and tarantulas added. I would also love to see useful farm animals added. I wish they would come out with a box for a pet store where you could buy a cat or dog. It could take you directly into CAS to create the pet you want. I really enjoyed the past iteration of sims where you could do that. I don’t use retail near as much as I used to. It’s just not as fun as past sims games. There needs to be more hobby objects you can make things to sell. Like toy objects, pottery objects ( bowls, nicknacks etc. ), knitted objects, a sewing machine to make stuffed animals, rag dolls and clothes, a mechanical robot station, a canning station where you can can ( or freeze) vegetables and fruits and stuff to sell as food products ). A real grocery store and theatre are needed as well. Maybe even a wine making machine, things like that, I’m sure they could think of many other things..... they brought out a wood working table and a cupcake machine, and they brought out the flower arranger in seasons, and the archeology table in jungle adventure. I think it would be cute if they brought out a little hot dog stand, lemonade stand, or ice cream stand our sims could take with them, place on lots and sell stuff from. I really miss the hot dog venders and things they had in other sims games. You shouldn’t have to pay to open a stand to buy from when you use the food stands the sims 4 came out with on a lot you make. they should be like the bar object. I digress too much though. I read someone above say they download eyelashes, nail polish, wedding gowns, viels and stuff.....these are things that the sims 4 should come out with ( like they did with teeth).
