Ideas for self created faery gameplay with Cottage Living.
I know we didn't get faeries this time around, but I was thinking the Cottage Living world and some of the gameplay aspects might just lend themselves to some creative work arounds for those of us who would really, really, like to see faeries in the Sims done properly.
I'm thinking combine Cottage Living with Realm of Magic (bonus with Vampires game pack for the ability to make something akin to the vampiric type fae of folklore), add in some CC and mods, utilise the build cheats and you could possibly get some halfway decent faeries.
This is how I would set it up:
In CAS
Create three distinct sets of Sims (two of them will need to be spellcasters or vampires, if you choose to incorporate that aspect of the fae), using whatever CC you think you might need, or not need for that matter, to get them looking the way you want.
Sims Set 1:
Create two sims, and call them 'Bean Sidhe' and 'Jenny Greenteeth' (or 'Peg Powler'). These don't need to be occult sims per say, but whatever works best for your gameplay. I would suggest giving Bean Sidhe the gloomy trait, she'll be wailing for the dying afterall; and Jenny Greenteeth the evil trait, because she'll be drowning random sims.
Sims set 2:
Create several spellcaster sims that will be your Seelie court. None of them should be truly 'good' as a rule, all of them should have traits that line up with mischievous natures (maybe include the hot headed trait for one or two, seeing as even the fae of the Seelie court are quick to anger if insulted).
Sims Set 3:
Create several spellcaster (and vampire if you choose to mix that in) sims that will be your Unseelie court. The Unseelie court are not fond of mortals and aren't afraid to show it, so feel free to make them as evil as possible.
In Build Mode
Cheat codes will be your friend.
Build or download from the gallery, one house for Bean Sidhe and Jenny Greenteeth. Add a swimming spot (not sure if you can swim in the ponds in Cottage living, if not just get creative with the pool and terrain tools) & stick a speaker on the outside of the house.
Enable the free build (the one that allows you to build/edit locked lots) and show hidden object cheats. Find the Sylvan Glade portal tree and place it in a public lot of your choice (you can access Sylvan Glade using this cheat, or at least it worked for me when I tested it).
Enabling free build again visit Sylvan Glade through one tree and decide if you want to create a Seelie or Unseelie world for some of your faerie Sims to live, or mix it up every few cycles of gameplay, or make it a neutral world for the fae - as long as it's somewhere your non fae Sims can visit that is a hidden world.
Game Play Ideas
Have Jenny Greenteeth invite random sims, or sims that have annoyed you, over and then drown them.
Edit the sims stereo songs to include something that contains shrieks and wails. Use MCCC to keep an eye on the elders in town & if you see one that has one day left to live, have Bean Sidhe stand outside her house and play that tune (bonus if she's also a vampire that makes people feel uncomfortable).
Have the Seelie court fae get involved in village life, but have them also be mischievous or downright destructive at regular intervals. Have a negative interaction with another sim? Inferniate them or their house; didn't win first prize for your amazing pumpkins? Zip Zap the judges and hand out potions of nausea to everyone, and so on.
Have the Unseelie court fae roll into town every so often and just go on a rampage (bonus if you have the extreme violence mod so they can have gang wars with the Seelie court).
Have human sims travel to Sylvan Glade and roll the dice (literally if you want to) as to whether or not they come out unscathed, maybe given a useful potion to use; or if they return having aged a generation (MCCC set age), or if they get a deliriate, morphiate, or minionise spell cast on them, or even if they just straight up get killed (again a mod would be needed for this aspect).

Okay, so those are my ideas - let's hear others, how would you utilise the new EP for faery gameplay? :)
