Probably an unhelpful answer; I don't do anything. I don't get much time off, so my recreational time is exclusively for things I'm interested in doing. I haven't really played the game to any significant extent since November, but I'm sure the desire to will come eventually. Until then, I won't touch it :p
Same here. When the game doesn't appeal to me I find a different recreation for a while. Eventually, the desire to play comes back and I have fun building and playing again. Sometimes the urge to play comes from being in a new real life place that I find appealing and want to try to build, sometimes it just...happens...but I always come back after a break and enjoy the game again.- I... remake all the worlds and Sims? I think it's a legit form of gameplay, tbh. It's as much "play" as anything else. I also turn to other games etc. Sometimes what I really need is a different kind of gameplay entirely. For me that usually means turn-based strategy games (I like Civ VI). I don't see the point in forcing yourself to get into something your brain just isn't in.
FWIW, I've been on an extended Sims break (which for me means several weeks) - I've just been too busy to give time to it, and it needs a particular kind of attention - and just now getting back to it... and am embarking on a save-wide aging-up. - Sharooonia7 years agoSeasoned AceIf I lost interest I'd take a break. There is no point in trying to force enjoyment of something if it doesn't naturally come when playing.

Taking a break can usually be the best thing. Give yourself time to step away, enjoy something else, and in time come back to the game fresh. I've stepped away from Sims feeling a bit wore down from it only to come back when a bit of inspiration hits on perhaps a new sim, a new build, or a new challenge.- I play another game. Sometimes more than one. I think it’s good to take a break every now & then. Anything can get old after awhile.
Edited for typo. - I just give it time. Sometimes I will go through as long as 6-month stretches without playing at all.
Eventually I get the urge to play again. - InuMiroLover7 years agoSeasoned AceJust recently I gained some interest back. I had downloaded a little CC and edited a previous Sim who turned out too gorgeous to be left alone, and turned her to a celebrity. The last couple days its been nothing but photoshoots and Im having a blast. Im still aching for some new content though.
Before that though, I just played some other video games of mine until I felt some inclination to pick the Sims up again. - Nothing. I play again when I get bored of whatever else has my attention.
- I will makeover those single, potential pre-made sims and get married with my handsome or pretty sims :p
- tcikes7 years agoSeasoned AceI felt kind of bored with live mode, so I decided to get into building up my neighborhoods. I've realized I love making restaurants, and spent about a whole day on each. I made a retro diner, a Chinese restaurant and a fine-dining penthouse restaurant so far. I also, for the first time, bought a restaurant and tried running it - and was amazed at how much fun I was having. For some reason I never played the running a business aspect of the game. So my suggestion is to try some aspect of the game you haven't touched and see if it's fun.
