I'm applying to work on the upcoming The Sims 4 "NPC and Lore Update"

Yes, its weird and outside the norms, but its not unethical of me and I’ll explain why I am here, today, applying myself for a commissioned job at The Sims Studio. Those past years have been rough to me in many ways, from a family member trying to murder me to me never being able to get a job in Brazil for being gay, or feminine, or whatever prejudice runs through the minds of interviewers, but The Sims has been a safe place for me to express myself like therapy.
I got a job for a month last year, but the pandemic came in and I lost it. My mother was also fired during the pandemic, and the only one in our home working is my father thats on UBER after he got all his vaccines. Its been hard for everyone, and I haven’t been na exception. Then I learned that The Sims Team are going to improve NPC and their lore, from skintones to storylines, and I’ve always loved to play with the premade families.
I’ll add some examples down here of premade families and houses from Sims 1, 2 and 3 that I have recreated with utmost attention to detail, “DNA” and lore. I have been recreating real life people and premade sims for years now, but I’ve also been playing with those premades since I was a child starting with the Newbies. I believe I have what it takes to help The Sims Team improve the game for long time players without forgetting the new ones from Sims 4.
I believe I’m aligned with what The Sims Team believes. I’m all for representation, inclusivity, respect to boundaries, team work, diversity and I’m also looking for Sims 4 to be the best it can be... acknowledging the past games and current mistakes and addressing them in a respectful way for both players and developers. I would love to fix Sims 4 premades, add detail to them, recreate characters from past games and line up the universe and timelines.
I’m fluent in english and portuguese, and most importantly in the language of respect and admiration. I’m not looking for pity due tom y past problems, althought I would love to be paid in commission to work on my favorite game of all times even if its just for a brief moment. I can record vídeos if thats a requirement too, or appear in livestreams, but the only thing I want its to be part of the lore and npc update and integrate your ideas and effort with mine. Thanks.

This is Buddy Bailey from Sims 3's Twinbrook recreated in Sims 4:

This is their house in Sims 3 and then recreated in Sims 4 (not including the interior pictures to avoid making the post too long):

Here are the Sims 3 Goths from Sunset Valley recreated in Sims 4 (the only one I didn't recreate was Mortimer, which I aged down from Sims 4 to keep his Sims 4 look because I know most Sims 4 players like the official premades, but I can recreate him too if needed):

And I also recreated the Goth Sr. house from Sims 1 Unleashed:

I can share other pictures if needed. I have recreated many other families, households, houses, some real life celebrities and people I know, I also have built original houses and original sims, but I love the premade ones the most. I have played rotationally with them over and over again over the years in all sims game, even the console ones. I believe I have enough knowledge and "training" to be helpful for The Sims Team... I love Sims so much I could even work for free if I didn't need the money right now. I know the game changers who worked on packs worked as commissions and I'm totally opened to work that way too. I have lots of ideas, but I'm also open to ideas and feedback from the team and players.
If anyone in The Sims Team sees this and thinks I could be helpful, please send me a private message and I'll text you my email so we can discuss this. I know it sounds crazy for me to post this here and ask such thing, but it would be a dream to me to work on premades, houses and game lore... trully. I had to try. (P.S.: I have Sims 1, 2 and 3 in my laptop and I have no problem running them to take reference pictures).
  • If you're also a simmer and wann help me, could y'all tag the gurus? Thanks @SimGuruDrake @SimGuruRusskii @SimGuruHydra @SimGuruJill @SimGuruAzure @GrimSuruDoi @SimGuruLyndsay @SimGuruLakshmi
  • I'm sorry you've had a tough time but it's good that, like many Simmers, you can find comfort in playing The Sims. It's definitely a game that has helped a lot of people especially during the last couple of years.

The news about the NPC lore update is very exciting and I'm sure the Devs (who love the game just as much as us!) have loads of ideas up their sleeves already, but it would be great if they can take players' ideas into consideration too.

Unfortunately, the EA hiring process is rigorous and I don't think they are able to hire people via the forums, it all has to be done through an application process on the EA careers website: https://www.ea.com/careers
They have lots of roles, including remote ones and also offer internships and graduate programs. If you really want to be hired to work on The Sims, you should put together a CV (and include a portfolio if you have one) and see if they are currently hiring for any roles that fit what you want to do.

In the mean time, I'd suggest that you post any ideas you have for the lore update in the Feedback and Ideas Section, I'm sure lots of fellow Simmers would be interested in seeing them, and who knows, perhaps a Dev will end up seeing them too.

P.s. If you don't currently have experience working for a games company and want to build up your CV/portfolio you could try reaching out to (independent) game developers to see if they can offer you any kind of work experience.

Alternatively you could start a blog/YouTube/twitch and show off your knowledge and love for the game there.

I sincerely hope that one day you get your dream job working with The Sims (and then maybe you can put in a good word for me? haha) but gathering experience and building a portfolio on the way there is not only important but can be lots of fun too!

I really admire your passion and wish you lots of luck!
  • @GirlFromIpanema so... I didn't go to this route because I think it would be a more "temporary" thing as this is just for the npc and lore update. I remember watching one of the gamechangers who built houses in Cottage Living saying that they weren't hired for a job, but rather got paid for commission. I believe they were paid for each of their builds, and thats what I was thinking here. Help them fixing some houses, building new ones and mostly creating premades, fixing existing ones, adding family trees, sentiments, likes and dislikes and be paid for each household/build or something like that. Its more of a dream for me to work in The Sims like that than to work in the gaming industry, you know?! But I'll take a look on the website you shared, I'm really thankful that you tried helping. <3 I had no idea about the careers website.
(I think Ebonix also got paid to creat her nails in the new update, and I think each artist who got a painting of their pieces added in the last updates also got paid like that, not sure tho).

    Heya @EnigmaOFFC

I'm so glad that you have such a passion for The Sims! You have some outstanding recreations of some of the Sims from days past in your post as well. That being said, the forums aren't going to be the place for this type of request I'm afraid.

If you're committed to pursuing a career with our Sims team @GirlFromIpanema nailed it on the head by linking our Careers site. We're always looking for talented people to join us, it never hurts to apply!
