I haven't read the whole thread but here are my room ideas for a royal residence or celebrity mansion:
- Press Room - Stage, podium and rows of seats for public announcements to media. Photography items. Video cameras. Streaming station with appropriately royal backdrop or greenscreen.
- Ballroom/Bar - Stage area for band/entertainer, dancefloors, wall speakers and seating around the edges of the room. Maybe a buffet table/fountain for canapé type foods/drinks and a bar and "smoking" bubble blower area in an adjacent room.
- Media Room - A home cinema but you could also add a game console for gaming on the big screen.
- Rec Room/Man Cave/Den - Board games, darts, foosball, small rink, bowling, ping pong, karaoke etc. Bar for drinks, minifridge/microwave or vending machines for snacks.
- Spa Room - Somewhere chilled to meditate and get private spa treatments.
- Home Gym - Gym equipment including yoga and practice bots.
- Laundry - A large home with lots of events/guests would produce a lot of linen and need lots of washers/dryers and linen storage.
- Conservatory (deco) - A (deco) plant filled room with an area for tea. Maybe an indoor pool for the winter months, hot tub, indoor onsen and loungers too. In the future, pet birds could also live here.
- Conservatory/Greenhouse (practical) - Produce for the kitchen, flowers for the house and a flower arranging bench. Hire a Gardener or to take care of this domain. Flower arranging could be done by a played Housekeeper/Butler or be a hobby of one of the ladies of the house.
- Garage - Debug cars. Storage for bikes/boat/sports equipment.
- Workshop/Shed - Workbench/recycler/fabricator. Somewhere for the live in Handyman or Butler to tinker.
- Kitchen Yard - Somewhere for your cow and chickens.
- Patio - For the summer months. Have an outdoor grill kitchen, outdoor fireplace/fire pit lounge area, outdoor pool/hot tub/onsen and board games. Maybe an additional outdoor cinema/media room too.
- Basketball Court - A full size court area with bleachers. Could be indoor or out. Even both.
- Vault/Treasure Room - Valuable art/sculptures that the family doesn't want to display, but doesn't want to sell. Excess cash.
- Infirmary - A small private clinic for both family members and pets.
- Music Room - A place for a piano, organ, violin, guitar etc for practice purposes. Include a bookcase for skill books, a stereo to listen to music and inspiring décor to increase skill gains.
- Art Studio - A place with easels, drawing tablet, mural spaces, photography equipment and art books.
- Private Museum - Somewhere to display family collectibles and artwork that doesn't fit elsewhere. Inspiring décor to increase skill gains.
- Play Room - A kids' paradise with every type of toy and activity. An outdoor playground could be an option too (don't forget a sand pit). These are not only great for family, but for guests during events too. You could hire a Nanny for days when visitors bring kids if you don't normally employ one.
- Menagerie - A private zoological collection room and a playroom and bedroom for your pets. Have this on the outside of the build on the ground floor, so pets can get outside via a pet door.
Oh, thanks! That's lots of great ideas, and many of those I never really thought of. Like Infirmary and menagerie, but fact is the current household is already 7 without live-in staff so the 8 sims thing will probably not allow for many pets. It's a pity, but with the lag involved I have to face these limitations. A laundry I never thought of too, but I've not done the basement (servants domain) yet, so I will add a nook for laundry - although I don't have the needed equipment (laundry stuff pack).
Along my building progress I constantly realized that my royal estate is way too small. Still, my computer would not be able to run anything bigger, so there has to be many compromises. I will just pretend that some rooms are much bigger than they are, and that more rooms exists without actually being there.
