Ever since the latest patch and the installation of IL, my Sim has been 'attacked' or targeted for death by the game. I've tried rolling back a couple of saves, and then finally made a copy of my Back-up saves folder to carry forward from there. He's died twice, Hysterical, and went Hysterical a third time, this is when I switched my saves files. Up until now, things were okay. But I'll be danged if he hasn't gone Hysterical again. I attempted to remove the buff via MCCC, but he's got a lot of playful things that stack up. Before I could send him to his concert, however, hoping a change of scene would do him good, the game froze. Not only that but the Road to fame menu failed to show up. I did experience a computer crash when I was playing my game, last. So, I am now 'repairing' the game in the hopes things will be okay. I may have to uninstall RTF to replace it, just in case the crash did something.This is causing me a great deal of grief and vexation. I don't like to be one to complain, but if I don't vent, it could be harmful to my health. I have already made up my mind that should Erik die again, I would throw out the old Cantrell saves and start anew. I'm sick to death of this. It's one thing to have a random death and it's quite another when it appears my favorite Sim has a target on his back.As such I'm not enjoying Island Living at all. I do blame what I am hoping is a glitch/bug on this EP. Somebody, please, talk me off of this wall!

I'm so sorry!Once it's fixed, could I tempt you into making an expendable savefile, that you use for testing out new packs? In case this is helpful, I have a 'gold-digger/black-widow' sim that I use for this purpose. (It's actually pretty funny; the gallery has sim versions of many politicians, so...yeah...she marries and murders the ones I'm mad at! --don't worry, in real life I'm decidedly nonviolent. I do find it funny when a particular sim-politician-ghost stomps around steaming mad 'cuz he's still jealous about who she's cavorting with now!) However, long-term, that gameplay doesn't keep my interest, so it's perfect for use when I'm waiting for bugs to be patched.Good luck on the game repair! Hope you can find some interesting threads to distract you, or some good music to listen to!

I've had this happen with one of my sims too. I ended up marking him as immortal with MCCC so he wouldn't keep dying hysterical deaths, despite only having one single +2 playful buff. I already had to start a new save file with him because Grim stopped appearing when sims died, urns would just appear. He was the whole reason I had to, he died a hysterical death and despite having a stockpile of death flowers I could do nothing as Grim never appeared to be given a death flower. I tried a game repair, staring a new save in a whole new world, all that and he got hysterical in the new save too.So if the problem still remains, perhaps try marking your sim as immortal for now so it doesn't keep happening. It is frustrating to have all these weird bugs appearing since IL and the patch.

I feel your pain. I have been following your progress/setbacks with your Rock Star Sim, and I don't blame you for being upset. I don't use the RTF mod you are using but my game is also a glitchy mess even when I play a vanilla save file. I remember your hubby bought that PC for you as an anniversary gift. And maybe my memory is way off, but that wasn't all that long ago. So the fault here is with Island Living itself because there are many Simmers complaining about random crashes. I am playing the game on a six month old gaming PC yet I am having more problems while playing Island Living on my desktop than I do while playing it on my laptop. Which doesn't make much sense to me. I went so far as to uninstall Sims4 after backing up the important game files, then did a fresh installation. Doing that did get rid of a few smaller glitches. After repairing your game do you restart your PC? I have found restarting your PC after repairing helps. Don't understand why, but it does help. The other concern I have is this is happening with the same Sim. Do the crashes happen during a certain interaction, event, or while certain Sims are on the lot? When City Living was released I lost an older save because it became corrupted for some unknown reason. I had just two mods in my game back then and didn't play until those were updated. Island Living has impacted a lot of the features from past packs. Do you use the UI Cheats Extensions mod? I have been using it along with MCCC for a couple of years. I use it mainly to cancel out those bothersome moodlets so my Sims don't die because they're too happy, or too playful, etc. I also hate seeing their facial expressions change every few seconds. LOL Hang in there. I am trying to sort through a long list of bugs myself and I know how frustrating it is. Hopefully the devs will have a hot fix patch for us later this week. :)

UPDATE: It's not the Immortal status you need. I just checked in with the MCCC Help Thread. This is what's required. Go through the computer and select MC Tuner>Change Interaction Behavior> Allow Emotional Deaths and select disable. That way you don't have to worry about your Sims' family growing up without them. :)I am very happy to report that after replacing Origin not once, but twice (had to do it again today) my game is repaired with all pack installed. Yay! Erik has made an additional §15000 and his identical twin nephews are now toddlers. Yay. I have disabled emotional deaths, but am very glad to have experienced them, almost five in total. :open_mouth: There is such a thing as enough is too much. ;)My heartfelt thanks to all of you who responded lending your support and advice. Going back in game, now. :)

How frustrating! Do you have a totally different save game, with completely different sims, that you might enjoy playing until IL is patched? When I was buying the various packs before the first patches*, I tended to play 'expendable' savefiles. Heck, my favorite savefile, the first one I started when the game came out? --I haven't played that one for a couple years! Saving it. I'm playing the #tortureyoursims themed savefile, in the hopes I won't care so much if it becomes unplayable. Working okay so far. Dunno if that helps you any, though?

What would help distract and soothe you? :smile:

*that's not very intelligible, is it? I mean, when I play a pack before it's patched &/or modders have found workarounds.

Thank you so much for the response. I do have another save I suppose I could play for a time. But, then, what's to prevent another Sim from becoming a target? You can see my dilemma. I'll see how it goes after the repair operation is finished. It may well be I'll have to start my Cantrell family all over again, because I'm almost certain I shall have to replace the Road to Fame mod. Can't be a singer Sim without that. :open_mouth:

Oh, geez, even the repair is getting hung-up. StrangerVille is stuck at 56%. Since I have all but Vampires and First Pet, this could take all day! Not a happy Camper. :'(

Thank you so much. Doesn't help when my poor besotted computer keeps crashing. That's another reason why I decided on the game repair. Last time I was playing, my computer decided it was time to crash … I'm fed up to my teeth with this nonsense. I have played 'test' Sims in the past. Did it when I first got Sims3, as a matter of fact. Don't know why I don't continue the practice? I was in the middle of defragging when my not-so-precious computer decided to …crash! Oi!

Wow, I'm so sorry you've had to go through this. At the same time, I'm glad I'm not alone.

I have even gone so far as to go back at least two game saves trying to prevent it. As a last resort, someone said something on a thread of mine about the problem, which triggered my memory. I had made a back-up of my Sims 4 folder. I decided to make a copy of the saves file from there and replaced the one in my game with it. He nearly froze to death (but that's an easy fix, you just direct them indoors). Then today, he went Hysterical on me again. Face/palm. If I can't get the game to repair properly, then I will have to start this game file all over again.

Wow, I may very well have to do that. Right now, playing the game is next to impossible. And, I was having a blast, since GF and the updated RTF came out. Now, I hardly open it up. It's sad. I was really looking forward to IL, but that's a disappointment, too. To have it also be the source of my grief is hard to bear. Suffice it to say, I'm not having fun yet. :open_mouth:

I bet I'm not the only one who sympathizes with you! (I'm not playing my game either, but it's 'cuz I was wanting to do an off-the-grid story in B.Bay, & can't without an object-fix or three. I could move on to another HH, & will likely do so soon...but not quite yet!) Hope your computer repair works this time!
