Thank you both for your understanding and sympathy, when it happened I kind of gasped in shock loud enough for my husband and daughter to be concerned enough to ask me what was wrong. When I told them, they thought it was hilarious and couldn't feel my pain at all. They are definitely not simmers!
I do normally save regularly, but this challenge has made me play with things in Sims 4 that I haven't before. I've never played retail or dine out, and vets only a little in the maxis lot. This meant that I became so engrossed in what I was doing I totally forgot about saving.
Oh well, this time I think I'll save after every room.
