The paradise living pack is really cool. We already kind of knew it from the leaks the passed few days. The rumors were true :)
The other (big? Not sure how that was big) announcement they made was.. just a waist. Why this overdone dedication to pride stuff? It's getting annoying. I couldn't even understand half the words he was saying. Just not something that is very much needed.
The last few announcements kind of ruined the first one for me tbh. It was a bit disappointing. I expected something bigger. Uni, farming, cars, open world/sub-hoods, big changes in the core game etc.
Maybe you can try to understand that for some people those news where actually quite big. Personally I am very happy about the fact that my favourite childhood game is this inclusive of its gay players. Sadly this is not a given and a big company like EA making it a point to have it in their game is a step in the right direction. The execution is gonna be up for debate, because being gay isnt all rainbow colours and flower crowns, but we will see and i appreciate the effort. Seeing that you couldnt understand half of what they were saying means that educating people on this topic is still very much needed and as the sims is played by a wide range of people itll definitely do some good. Maybe ull find a way to incorporate it in your gameplay as well, because its definitely part of real life (:
Are you sure about that? That is my whole point. We have been bombed by this stuff.
Besides: Repeatedly giving the same packs or category updates are costing time and money which could have been spent for things that never got a chance in the first place.
But it says it all in my first comment already. Maybe read it again ;)
EA has an Engagement Team that's responsible for updates like the Pride content, special challenges where Jasmine Holiday shows up and such -- they keep the game fresh and interesting between big pack releases. Cancelling those projects wouldn't really add much to the budget of the next pack. You're free to ignore such content if you like, but for many of us we appreciate the little extras whether it's Diwali, Christmas Down Under, or Pride. And in a world where people are imprisoned or even executed for loving the "wrong" person in some countries, or "merely" beaten up in others, it's nice that people can still be who they are in a video game in the privacy of their own home.
I agree and this is what The Sims is really all about. Creating anyone and doing what you wanted in the game. IT has become a game where you can express anything that you wanted. Removing content like this will make the game feel more stale imo and not diverse.

Then a magic pack. Well from the heart, good for the long waited fans. I am not a fan of it. I understand that this pack is needed for the magic and supernatural lovers, but I feel they should have given them all in one pack or EP when they released the first supernatural pack. I now feel the second pack stole a spot for something that was waiting for it's time to shine: uni. I mean, did we get a second parenthood or generation pack? Did we get a second animal/pets pack? No, and I am pretty sure these are ranked higher than another supernatural pack. EA should learn to deliver fleshed out packs to prevent additional waiting time of a year for a pack that is highly desired and needed.

I do appreciate that they have given away news that is only to release in autumn. This is something they could do more often ;)
I don't know how you've been missing it, but Witches have been highly requested for a while now. And the Vampires pack is the second highest played Game Pack right behind Parenthood, according to SimGuru Lindsay. The Occult players have just as much right to fleshed out content as "realistic" or family players. Just because it's not your personal play style doesn't mean it's not in demand. Supernatural aspects have always been a staple of the Sims. Always. Grim Reaper, ghosts, magic, cow plants... The Sims has never been realistic. It was never intended to be from the beginning. In Sims 2, we got an Occult with every EP. So realistic play is merely one type of play style.
Also, you just got an announcement for an Island pack, (which I personally find fairly boring as a theme) and we'll probably get a Uni expansion in November. It's not like you're getting nothing. Meanwhile, Occult players have been waiting since the Vampires pack for another playable/createable Occult, while realistic players have gotten parenthood, pets, seasons, fame, vacations, laundry, stuff after stuff pack, free content drops, etc.
So, beg pardon, but no. Just...no. We deserve our share of content just as much as you do. I'm sorry you're disappointed, I've been disappointed too and everyone should get a chance for some new gameplay of their preferences.
It's really discouraging that some realistic players keep trying to dominate the game and push out Occult players. It's time to come to terms with the fact that this is our game too.
P.S. Any possibility of open world has been dumped in the bin when this game engine was built. It has been officially stated that it's one of the few things that is never going to happen for Sims 4. It's unfortunate for the people who want it, but the game cannot be changed for it. It just can't. It's never going to be an option, so hoping for it is only going to continue to disappoint.
This. As an occult player it was almost 1 and a half year since we got occults that was actually playable so this is very important to as. The fact that mermaids are even customizable in CAS is already one of the best things since in the past, only a few occults can be ccreated in CAS so this is a step forward in direction. We get to express ourselves with occults, and create stories that we wanted. Its time now imo for the return of the darker side of the sims and supernaturals for us supernatural players, bring that darkness with their abilities and looks depending on the stories that we want to tell.
