Just wanted to add.. the splicing works, easy to fish them up, and possible to get them from the scarecrow. I'll bet they are on plopsy now and then too but haven't looked. I usually get them from fishing now rather than doing all the splicing.
You can also buy them as seeds in seed packets. Think it's the rare plants packets. :)
