Is an adopted Sim your household raised your 'original' Sim for gallery upload?

Is there a place where I can find a list of definitions/rules about what is considered 'your' content that you don't need to credit others for in the gallery? For instance...
• I have an adult Sim that my original family adopted and raised. Is this Sim considered mine for sharing in the gallery (household) or am I supposed to give some sort of 'credit' to ... (who)?
• If I have a Sim who was in the gallery (a default, in-game Sim that comes with the game), and I play that Sim (which for me oftentimes involves makeovers and sometimes generations of play time and integrations into the households I run (I have aging off), if I want to upload that Sim into the gallery, do I need to 'credit' that they were in the original game/gallery? If so, how would I do that... especially since many of them are renamed and made over and you would likely not even recognize them. (I used several, and I am not even 100% sure if any of the others were in-game made/default, as I see them as more challenging since they rarely have great traits and they have no skills... It seems to me the default Sims are basically a randomized lump of clay.)
BUT... I have one that I have played and is a grandma (with aging off) that I did not change the first name of and who still looks much the same...
• If I have a lot that I did revisions to and want to upload to the gallery, what is sufficient for 'credit'? Can I just mention the name of the original lot, as I don't see a way to tell who created the original lot for the game.

I know some folks are very particular about what is considered 'my' content to share in the gallery without crediting the original creator, and I don't want to break the 'rules' or upset folks, so I was hoping for some clarification. Thanks!

  • I go by the rule that if you or your game created it, it's fair game - otherwise, give credit where it's due.

I agree! Any sim your game creates is 'yours' and fair game to upload to the gallery without crediting anyone (adoptions, NPCs, etc!). If you downloaded a sim another simmer made from the gallery and completely redid their hair and clothes (a full makeover!) you should probably still give credit to the original simmer -They did make all the bone structure and body!

As for lots; I'm assuming you're talking about editing lots that come already placed (by Maxis) when you start a new game. For in-game lots you've remade or edited most builders just add a #reno tag (renovation) to the build.
If you're talking about editing a lot that you download from the gallery and would like to re-upload with your changes, you can find the original lot in your "My Library" page of the gallery. If you click on the picture, directly at the top, it will say by:Username <-That's who you'd credit.

    Hope that helps!
  • @WildIrishBanshee and @keenow Thank you so much! That definitely helps clarify. :)
