Is anyone else disappointed with the High Maintenance trait?

If they nerf this trait I'm going to have a cardiac explosion. If my sims die they die, I can always redownload them off of the gallery. I'm tired of this game being an easy street simulator. I want things beyond my control to happen sometimes. Just like in real life, you can't always toggle off the unexpected.
