Don't forget mindfulness activities to create a strong Fine mood.
Which just makes the point that there are so many “toggles” for emotional death that it’s hard to list them all.
Maybe you're talking generally, but I do want to specify again that my sim was partaking in mindfulness activities before and after gaining the buff, and it did absolutely nothing. I also attempted to drown out the buff with positive ones (fine, confident specifically) only for her to still die. Could have been just bad luck and timing in that case, but it doesn't make it any less annoying. Calming down at the mirror or taking a cold shower or other "toggles" also did not work, probably because as a modder said earlier in the thread, the buff is not classed as an angry buff properly.
that should be fixed and needs to be fixed imo, whether that be through:
1) tying this buff directly to negative buffs (which would also give the trait more depth. Even the most ridiculously high maintenance people have some sort of trigger before they throw their hands up and have a meltdown, unless there's some other issue there not tied to that particular personality trait)
2) The buff just simply being classed properly, so I can then use the normal "toggles" I use to avoid emotional deaths.
I'm fine with using mods to shut off emotional deaths because they've never offered much to my gameplay, but I don't think other people should have to use mods to fix an issue like this. And I definitely don't think turning off all deaths is the solution either, which you mentioned earlier. Just because someone thinks something needs some fine tuning doesn't mean they want their game to be all rainbows and sunshine.
(and this is all aside from the fact that a couple of people have mentioned now that a +5 angry moodlet shouldn't be enough to cause a cardiac explosion, but it has even without negative buffs aside it in my game. There's an issue there, whether it's not labeled right or my game is in need of a good ole repair. Part of the benefit of making a thread like this is I get to have a better idea of which one it might be if any.)

And yes OP I know you are not asking for a nerf or anything but I'm sensitive on these topics because some of my favorite traits and features are gone for life when people had the option to not use the said feature/trait or use the in game toggles? and it usually starts with topics like this.
It's nothing personal op ?
I getcha :) I mentioned my ideal solutions above and I'd hope people wouldn't consider them a nerf lol. I think proper classification of this single buff alone would be great. Part of my complaint though was also about it not being difficult enough for me at the same time, funny enough! The random negative buffs are funny, but I guess I was hoping for an increase on negative buffs overall (whats +2 uncomfortable on one sim becomes +3 or +4 for a high maintenance one)
and maybe even some unique buffs when it comes to certain issues (Kind of like someone mentioning a high maintenance sim can get angry about their nails deteriorating instead of sad, so far I haven't seen any other differences like that!)

I don’t use mods, and I agree with cape_diem, I wish they had a toggle to turn off emotional deaths too. I would like my sim to be upset because of their moodlet, and be able to push them to extreme where they are miserable and depressed without having to worry about them dying from it.
But then, like my daughter and I were talking about, sims should be able to get illnesses, and have serious consequences ( death ) if they are not taken care of. Dying of laughter makes no sense, though I could imagine pushing anger should have some illness consequences, needing medication, needing surgery etc. they could make good use of the doctor career with this one..
I love this idea!!! I've never been a fan of the emotional deaths either (aside from cardiac explosion not pertaining to this particular incident LOL) which is why I'm fine with toggling it off in this particular instance. They either come up at the most annoying times or don't happen at all and then yeah, they're kind of silly. I wish my hysterical sims could just pass out from laughing too hard (and probably too realistic for the sims 4 but in that case I wouldn't mind a chance of them dying. Fainting can be dangerous, coming from someone with that issue! Though I could also see how it'd be too triggering to include somewhere other than a mod)
Long-term consequences for more extreme emotional states is not only realistic but sounds a lot more engaging than "my sim just laughed themselves to death because I couldn't get them to calm down in front of the mirror in time after they autonomously told too many jokes while their clothes were warm"

I don't give my sims High Maintenance trait. I'm a natural low maintenance so my sims are Carefree & Shameless. :p
That's fair. :) I'm pretty low maintenance myself, but I just want my sims to suffer and be miserable occasionally :D
