I have played several households, including organizing/playing on most residential lots in Tomarang. I had no trouble or corruption yet.
I have only a few rental units (don't play them a lot), and focused very little on the landlord options.
My understanding (I do not know for sure!) is that the corruption will be avoided if:
* having less than 18(?) rental units in your save.
* avoid cheats making it possible to have more than 6 units per lot, or more than 99 units per save.
* never change a "rental residential" back to any other lot category. This means, compplete the build 100% before even assigning the units.
If not using the "rental residential" category at all, I assume you would be safe. It's a good idea to back up your save regularly, though.
Hopefully EA will address most of the problem with the coming patch.
