But generally speaking, often people's games are slow and laggy because the computer they're using isn't powerful enough to run Sims 4. Most laptops that aren't gaming laptops, for example, have very weak graphics cards -- even if they have good lots of other things. Over on the link I gave you (or here) we can look at your DxDiag file text to see what you're playing on and let you know if that's the problem.
When it isn't the problem, Simmers can improve their performance by using the game's automatic graphics settings (not increasing them), playing smaller lots and households, not using mods to remove culling, and for laptops, playing plugged in and using a cooling pad.
