What I've done personally is, after hiring a butler, I went into manage households (with cas.fulleditmode), and just remade them from there. I didn't change their traits as doing so with the cheat can cause problems (only use the re-traiting potion). But it worked! Every time I've gone back to that household with the edited butler, she's been there just as I remade her.
You can do that thing where you give sims the hidden role, but I just found this easier... I remake a lot of random generated sims this way since I hate how 99% of them look.
