Is my GTX 1050 Ti too slow for Sims 4?

I have a mid-range gaming PC that can run SkyrimSE and GTA 5 great on high setting, but playing in San Myshuno is slow for me, I mean moving around in this city is sluggish! Other worlds seems fine though, it's noticeable mostly in San Myshuno..is this normal?
I have GTX 1050 Ti and i7-7700 with 16 GB Ram and I dont have script or heavy mods, just very few mods and I always delete the cache..

San myshuno creates so many sims to perform ridiculous stuff like repair sims, vendor sims, statue sims, weirdo sims, raccoon sims at night, a million sims with diverse names, etc. I would check the unplayed households and do some deleting. That might help with lag.

Ahh yes let’s not forget the festivals coming and going and not really being completely cleaned up at times

I remember there was a problem with Sim inventories a while back, and Sims were getting bogged down by having too much stuff on them at all times. You could check some townie inventories and delete them if they're filling up, see if that helps. If the game has to load a bazillion little objects on every Sim, it will get weighed down.

Also, check your internet connection. Sometimes a slow connection can affect gameplay, so the best thing to do is go into game options and disconnect. You won't be able to use the Gallery, but you can always connect temporarily and disconnect again.

And lastly... sometimes having a lot of Sims and lots in your library can affect performance. You can either try removing your library and seeing how the game plays, or go through and clean it out, delete stuff you don't need.

Good luck, I hope you find the issue!

Good one. This is an issue too.
  • Had stutter and all that in my game and especially in that dreadful town, cured it all though through tweaking the Graphicsrules file and removed all low LOD levels so the game always displays the highest quality at all times so all pop in is gone too. This should have a negative impact on performance but this actually made the game utilize my graphics card properly and removed all performance issues for me. The devs might have intended for the LOD system to lessen the load on computers but it turns out it decreases performance instead on higher end computers.

This is on a rig sporting a 980 ti and I can reproduce this result on other computers as well and many times over. They should tweak this for a patch so people don't have to do it themselves.
  • Does your graphics card have the latest drivers (check geforce's site to make sure)?

Have you made sure your graphic card settings are set correctly?

Is your Operating System up to date?

Does your game have the most recent update?

Have you tried lowering the graphics settings in the game to see if it helps reduce lag?

Have you tried both Windowed and Full Screen modes to see if it makes a difference?

There has to be something I'm sure that can be done, because before my Geforce GTX 1060 I got a year ago, I was running San Myshuno on an ancient Geforce 560 that ran the game low settings with no lag. Your graphics card is not much older than the 1060 I have now, so I'm not sure why your game is doing this, but I'm sad it is, and I hope we can help you fix it!
