Is my Sim's cat dumb or defiant? (Rant)

Ha ha... Geoffrey Landgraab came to take the cat away. And he was stomping through the house real mad. What? :D

I once taught my Sim's dog to use the potty outside, and after it seemed like she had learned it, I caught her using the bathroom in the living room.

Cats aren't dumb. ;D

I have to admit, the lecture about counters is one I don't bother with. Primarily because while we don't allow our RL cats on the counter, we also know that they go up there anyway when they think we can't see them. That and it's the only way to get to the top of the fridge.

I know there's a trait that pets can have that makes them take longer to be trained out of bad behaviors, so it's possible your pet had that.

Or it was just a cat being a cat.

Cats can be extraordinarily predictable when you figure them out. cats only want two things from their owners/slaves depending on point of view. food and attention, that is primarily it for a cat when it is allowed outside.

Teaching a cat anything is a waste of time but i don't ever underestimate their intelligence, my cats know me well enough to know when i know they are trying to take me for a fool. :tongue:

@DaWaterRat I made sure this cat was smart when I created it, because I didn't want to fight it when lecturing it. I didn't avoid that completely though. And now this.

@DeKay Some certainly are ;) It's a myth that cats per definition are smart. Being ever only interested in serving themselves doesn't really make them brainiacs.

Hahaah, yeah, they usually don't bother listening to us anyways, but I clever enough to observe to see how to open doors, etc.

You'd be surprised how smart a cat is when it really wants something, it will find a way to get to it. A number of years ago my place needed some preventative maintenance, ordinarily my window would be open to keep the room cool, but in this week where scaffolding was up, that cat figured out how to get to me and pester me for food and attention by using the scaffolding. on another occasion she figured out how to climb a fence and reach me by roof, which would be ordinarily impossible. i had to let the cat in on both occasions and she made enough of a pest of herself that i left her out, only to find her jumping through the window a few seconds later.

Well, I grew up with 3 cats and some close family has a handful, so I'm a not a stranger to their ways. But as with any other beings, there are smarter and not so smart versions. Of course they can get inventive and creative when they want something. All animals (inlcuding humans) can. I simply wanted to point out that cats can be pretty dumb as well.

Fair enough. :P But I don't think your sim's cat here is. Hehehe. It's just being a troll. It's probably a bug in the game tho.
