Is my Sim's cat dumb or defiant? (Rant)

For the first time ever, I managed to teach a Sim cat not to jump onto counters - YAY! Not.

Because just now, I found it sleeping on a counter AGAIN. My Sim woke her up and sure enough, once again, I could choose 'Lecture about not jumping onto counters'. What the plum gives?! I can't work with that, so I'm getting rid of it. Had hoped it wouldn't come to that, but I've got my limits when it comes to Sim pets :|

I have to admit, the lecture about counters is one I don't bother with. Primarily because while we don't allow our RL cats on the counter, we also know that they go up there anyway when they think we can't see them. That and it's the only way to get to the top of the fridge.

I know there's a trait that pets can have that makes them take longer to be trained out of bad behaviors, so it's possible your pet had that.

Or it was just a cat being a cat.

Yes, and getting on top of the fridge (and from there to the top of the overhead cupboards) is important - they need to survey their domain from time to time. Also, they have a duty to knock everything off the countertop. And supervise my cooking.
  • One of my older cats used to jump up on the highest things she could. Kitchen cabinets, the fridge. I thought she liked doing it so she could look down on us peasants from her ivory tower. She's too old to jump up on high things these days, though.

Did the cat have the spoiled trait? I thought they reacted strongly to being lectured? Or wasn't there a bug before where cats with trained out behavior still did the bad behavior?

  • But this was a sim cat, remember. Was, because it is no more. Pets are just so glitchy. This cat also came up to the owner and barked with a stretchy face and no sound. It had to go..

My RL dog from years ago wasn't allowed on the furniture. (Boy, have things changed with our Beagles!) We had a glass-paned front door in that house. I left and on a hunch walked back up to the door to find Puddles getting onto the love seat. Was he ever surprised when I opened the front door to holler at him. LOL I have read somewhere that placing a long sheet of aluminum foil upon the seats is supposed to deter a dog. I shall have to see if it works.
