- LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned AceThere has been a major patch that addresses a ton of the issues, and so far, I’ve heard positive things about the patch, and it was only a couple of minor things that may need some sprucing up or adjusting. Sounds like good news so far! ??
The only major thing to be concerned about is the Error 0 issue that happens when you save wedding cakes to the wedding planner (and having Neighborhood Stories “change job/career” option enabled).
I plan to buy this pack now that the major issues in the pack have been addressed. :) I’ll keep looking for workarounds for the Error 0 issue, but a good majority of the pack is at least now workable/playable. - This gamepack strikes hard against Sims autonomy, that they should sit down as a group, follow the wedding couple without a will of their own and cheer at the wedding as it is completed and participate in to all the following events. This is not the Sims I have been playing and enjoyed, I would have to use all the tricks in the book to mke this happen and when they "fix" this, I am afraid that it will be on the cost of Sims autonomy, so we will have to click when they have to for example visit the bathroom or go to sleep, or whtaever you want them to do!
- telemwill3 years agoSeasoned AceOk, the new patch is out! I'm buying it!
Are there any mods still needed with this new patch? Anyone have favorites that add to the experience? - CCuteCCabaret3 years agoNew VeteranOkay in my testing with the latest patch as of april 1st, everything works perfectly on my end with a few disclaimers - 1. I planned the event through the phone. I still don't think using the calendar is reliable. 2. I tested twice on a NEW save with NO mods and a deleted localthumbcache, once with autonomy off and once with autonomy on. You do need enough space for bouquet toss and first dance and sims will take a little bit to route to where they need to go. It did run a little smoother with autonomy off. You can also sort of rapid fire click on the tasks to lessen the chance they will talk to each other and get distracted. The type of venue you use matters - I was testing on the home lot that I built specifically to have one of everything needed and NO other distractions. The only issue I had is that once you interact with the cake they all swarm and take a million pieces of cake and litter the lot with plates of cake but that may be because my guest list was very small. I chalk that up to "sims are gonna sim" and it's not a gamebreaker for me. Also they got a little complainy (moaning and groaning animations) when watching the ceremony from their seats but if I remember correctly that's related to being upset that the ceremony is taking so long and once bienchen clears/updates her mod, she has a mod to tweak that. There is also still no call off wedding interaction, which is another thing bienchen tweaked. I think those are the only two mods related to weddings I am gonna need.
My advice is find a venue built for gameplay first (so basically no premade lot sadly because as much as the game changers are good at building, their lots are terrible for smooth gameplay), use the calendar to SCHEDULE events but then when it comes time to actually do them, cancel before they start and schedule them on your phone. (Just make sure to keep the cake in your inventory.)
I did not check any of the other events that come with the pack but because those are limited to 8 sim gatherings, I think a way around any bugginess there is to just use the group system to get them to do what you need to. (It's really such a good gameplay mechanic and I wish more people utilized it, including the sims dev team.) @Stormkeep is correct in that sims are just...not going to behave perfectly in this game and I've come to accept that. These tips and tricks are the best way I have found to keep things running as smooth as possible, and this actually behaves better in my experience than Dine Out, now that it's patched. (Knock on wood though I never had issues with Dine Out, because I always custom build my restaurants for gameplay only which means smaller lots with better routing areas, although I never tested running a restaurant or retail)
But I've seen a lot of simmers still having problems with existing saves and such and I hope they manage to find a way to fix it for them. Having to start a new save every patch doesn't bother me - in every other video game franchise that lets you have multiple save files, I have always needed to start new games every time there's a patch. But I understand that that's a gamebreaker for a lot of other people. - Personally, if I was in charge of the Sims marketing I would rebrand one more time, and make the logo slogan "The Sims 4: EMBRACE the chaos!"
That way when things don't go entirely to plan you can say that not going to plan WAS the plan. - LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned Ace

There’s chaos and there’s broken or non-functional. This pack’s gameplay was mostly BROKEN/non-functional, and people were rightfully upset or angry. I’m glad that the sims team eventually fixed the issues. - CCuteCCabaret3 years agoNew VeteranOh yeah, no, it was definitely broken before this patch. Actually I hesitate to call it broken because broken implies things were not working as intended. From what me and a few other people who understand xmls and game code discovered, it was plain straight not finished. Lines of code were half written. Interactions were missing big chunks of required scripting. None of the features were internally connected. I said verbatim on the survey they sent out to buyers, "this is like handing in an incomplete assignment to your computer science class teacher."
I really feel for the dev team, I wish they had gotten more time to actually finish the pack. I'm glad they finally patched it and everything is smooth for me but I also still hope other people can somehow get my luck with this too because a big thing we were discovering in several discord servers I am in was that for some bizarre reason, things will run perfectly sometimes and then just not work at all when you try again. Replicating certain things for us was genuinely a challenge and we were all aware of how broken things were, so I do actually believe the gurus now when they say "oh but it worked before." I personally think it's connected to the calendar function - somehow I think using the calendar doesn't have the event trigger properly and therefore it won't assign the sims involved the correct roles. - LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned Ace

Good to hear it was unfinished and could still be finished or spruced up a bit. That’s a shame that it didn’t work for many simmers at times.
(I also felt bad for the game changers & YouTubers who had earlier access and most of whom were excited for the pack. The good thing is that this caused visibility to the issues!)
I’m glad that it could still be finished and it’s not impossibly broken. Thank you for your insight, @cutecabaret ! ?? "cutecabaret;c-18087582" wrote:

My gosh I didn't know this. Makes sense why not only the pack was broken but also why the pack doesn't even work but also why it doesn't even begin to hit its true potential....- I am so glad I ran into this post. I also held off purchasing the pack and really want it. Maybe I will wait for it to go on sale in the future or maybe I won't be able to wait and get it sooner
