Is Swimming In the Cold Weather Second Nature to a Sim?

I've caught my Sims' children floating on their backs in the pool, in the midst of a snowstorm. Although it's Spring in my game, the temperature is cold, rainy and not too pleasant. I just caught Erik...

Just discovered this. My sim got a cupcake from the fridge then proceeded to walk to the other end of the 64 x 64 lot so they could sit with their feet in the pool....in winter.
Whats more galling is that I gave them the genius trait!
