Is the Martial Arts skill returning?

Of course it is.

Dance Floors and proper nightclubs that are not just bars with a different name: Dance Skill.
Yoga Mats and Meditation Stools: Yoga ("Wellness") Skill.
Skating Rinks: Skating Skill.

Give me one single piece of evidence a video of a Sim doing martial arts training on specific dedicated martial arts equipment wouldn't mean a Martial Arts skill?

I reckon it's just a new workout, sadly.

But I might be pleasantly surprised.

Just like with Wellness, Swimming and Skating, you will ALSO gain fitness. Duh.

I meant, I dont think they will be able to do martial arts away from the equipment, ie. Fighting like in ts3

Under the description for Strangerville they state:

"Crack the Code – Have your Sims investigate using their Military training, searching for clues to solve a mystery that lies within the secret lab."

I'm guessing what she is doing is considered military training, so there's a good chance we can use it away from the training equipment. Maybe you need it to defeat The Mother.

Here's hoping, martial arts was one of my favorite parts of The Sims 3.

Usually when they don't answer a question like that directly and tell you to stay tuned for more info, you know there's a catch to it.

I hope not lol. A couple simmers on here can attest that I've been practically begging for the martial arts skill to return for a long time now.

Not really a duh considering there is no basketball skill. They've done it before.

The story isn't required to be in the military, so I hope the military isn't required to solve the story.

Out of the past GPs Dine Out is the only one that didn't come with a new skill. Since Strangerville has a new concept it's hard to guess if there will be a skill. The pack has a big world, new career and a story. For career use the skill would likely need to be a 10 level skill. Gardener career came with its own skill but that's an EP career. Based on this I'm thinking it's probably just a new workout equipment with no separate skill. But it depends on how big focus the military career has (compared to the story).
