I think they're just there for another layer of something to do/challenge/flavor for those that want to try them and probably because almost all games have achievements now and they figured they should probably add them. I don't see why they have to do something or give something. Just ignore them/don't do them if it bothers you that they don't give anything. At some point I want to attempt a full achievement run even the super hard ones like the 100 Generation one.
@DeKay the points in Sims 2 work exactly the way that the sims wish/whim points in Sims 3 and 4 worked you just spend them on the reward traits rather then getting objects for them.
I wish someone out there would put out a list of the hidden achievements I've yet to find anything. Like I had a sim complete the Mischief skill/aspiration and she got an achievement for it that's not on the in-game achievement list.
