Is there a way to make a sim walk manually instead of clicking all around?

Nope, unless they walk themselves if their free will is on :)

You can click on the sim and select go for a hike, or go jogging. (same thing though)

I usually scout ahead of them and click on the plants and things for them to collect.

There is an option somewhere that lets your sim go hiking

Yeah, go hiking or go jogging will make them move automatically.

I wish EA kept the walking controls :( . In sims 2 they had an option for both ways :(
