Is this normal? (relations/clubs)

I'm not quite sure what I ask, but the following just occurred a bit strange, so I want to ask if others had the same.

My female sim is ready to start her own family, so I set her to the house of a single male who I think might be suitable. I did not think about his fame though, he has two stars, making it a bit hard to interact with him. But they chatted a while, and the relation was about 10% + the pink bar was nearly 10% too. I sent her back home, then tried to call him to chat, but there was no option to chat with this guy. All she could do was inviting one of his groups to hang out at her current lot... I thought it might be because of his fame.

She then invited his "family club", and they all arrived. She knew his sister quite well already, and their eldest brother + their old parents came too. I noticed their father had a red "shopping cart" above his head, as if he was in a retail store, but this was a residential lot. He is that club's leader, so I wondered if my active sim would have to please him in some way to avoid that the club left, but there was no such options, all the visitors had 2 or 3 fame stars. My sim tried to communicate with them all but never went beyond the "ask for autograph" level. The first guy she could talk a bit more with, but very limited.

Well, eventually the group left (about 3 hrs later). My sim is not a member of their club, btw, so she was probably not running a club event.

Then, after they were all gone, I checked her relations. She could still not call the first guy to chat. But she could now call his older brother to chat! The brother she has only a relation bar but no visible color so I less their level is less than 1%. So how come she can call just the one with nearly no relation at all - he is even more famous (lvl 3)...

I know this probably got a bit detailed and complicated - if you get the picture, and have any idea whether it is normal, pls let me know :) I assume the fame system is to blame, but how about the red shopping cart and that she could c all the brother?

  • Until you reach friend status with a more famous sim, their number is blocked from personal calls

But my sim can call his brother, her relation to him is only 1%, way less than the guy she is interested in.
  • When I am wondering about another sim, I will actively control that sim. Once there I would check their quarks, or whatever it is called in this game to make sure there isn't something that would be interfering with what you are hoping to do. Something I also found that helps is while controlling that sim, I would have them interact with the sim you are hoping to connect them to. Usually, after that, I don't have any issues in getting the two to chat and other dialog.

A sim with any fame level has to actually introduce themselves before your sim can call them. Friendly Introduction, Funny Intorduction, etc.. The friendship level doesn't even matter.
  • Thanks, I guess I should rather play the guy. I'm almost certain that I did make successful interactions before, when playing the non-famous sim, but you guys might be right in that those two already had met and that the famous sim was the one to initiate the first contact. That must have been the case for the brother that she can call despite no relation, too.

Still confused with the shopping cart over the head of that club's leader. I never invited a club to hang out on a non member's lot before, so I don't know if that should even be possible - if it's a glitch (related to fame perhaps) the cart symbol might be a glitch also. I would raher see a club crown over his head than a shopping cart, LOL.

That's definitely something you're going to want to do with celebrity sims in general, because they're way too unapproachable otherwise. Introducing themselves to a bunch of your played sims will make life less weird down the line. And if they get one of those quirks that come from too much time talking to common plebs, then that's what celebrity cleanses are for.

  • Sounds like your lot is bugged to me. Move out and back in. Shopping carts shouldn't happen on residential lots.

You can also use the "talk up" or "hook up" interaction when you want celebrity sims to get to know or get with other sims. I use it when my sims have a celebrity sibling and I want that sibling and my sim's spouse to become friends. If I do it any other way (with the spouse attempting the friendship on his/her own) it becomes a headache unless I switch to playing the celebrity sim. But that doesn't always work for me because I play in rotation.

Yeas, I feel the rotation pain. My noble sim's fiancée had a very hard time getting to know her parents in law. All she could do was screaming hysterically when wanting to just greet them... ;) I wish the game hade some smarter mechanics when it comes to closer relations living in different households. Guess those contacts need more TLC, but that's not as easy in a game where you need to split your short day between exploring the jungle and learning new cooking recipes.
