Is this promise about future Sims 4 content true?

So this is what they said in the last year's Behind The Sims Summit about The Sims 4:
”We are committed to bringing new content in the form of packs, kits, free updates, and Sims Delivery Express drops to The Sims 4 into the foreseeable future. As a sneak peak of what’s to come, during the Behind The Sims Summit we took a look at early concept developments that will be featured in future The Sims 4 expansion packs. We’re also excited to share that infants will be arriving in early 2023!”

Hmmm…I hope Rene won't cause the end of the Sims 4…also not to mention the fact that Sims Freeplay and Sims Mobile have coexisted peacefully for YEARS now and are still supported and getting new content updates rather regularly. This time around Maxis seems to have no actual reason or excuse to cease any more Sims 4 content packs and updates, with The Sims 3 there was a clear limit of how many packs they were able to create before the game could no longer tolerate it, but I have heard the opposite for The Sims 4.

Could Maxis confirm we will continue to get Sims 4 packs for many more years? <3

There are also another option :
SWTOR case, BioWare will give the development to another studio and go to work on Mass Effect/Dragon Age.

Maxis already did it by transferring The Sims Mobile to Firemonkeys studio.

Wait wait wait…didn't they do something similar with The Sims 3 DLC development years ago too when that game was still being developed? They split the studios or something, but probably not for the same reason they would do it in The Sims 4's case. There was Maxis Emeryville and Maxis Redwood Shores or something like that…maybe they could give The Sims 4 to another studio with a few of the current SimGurus moving there along with new developers for new Sims 4 packs and content updates, and the rest would be moving to Rene/Sims 5, meaning that these two games can co-exist peacefully along with their proper target audiences and fanbases? Because this has been my gut feeling for years now. We can dream <3

I’m ready for a better sims game honestly, I think if the base game isn’t all it could be then the expansions can only add or do much. You got to have good land to grow on. And I like the sims 4 gameplay a lot more now, but at the same time I’m ready for something new. I really hope it’s not until 2028, that’s four more years, the sims 4 will be 14 years old by then. I think the sims 5 will release in late 2025, maybe early 2026 but 2028? I doubt that much longer.

Rene is a cross platform game, so it will not have the usual development, unlike the previous games, so keep that in mind :) I wouldn't be surprised if 2027 or 2028 really is the year it comes out, but late 2026 could be realistic too. However, that doesn't mean at all that they would drop Sims 4 just like that in favor of a completely different new game for a different audience, Sims 4 will keep getting content and updates despite Rene/Sims 5.

    > Yea no way they would drop Sims 4 just like that, they continue to get easy money and all of you think they would end this series despite it being incredibly profitable for them? What is this...no matter how much any of Simmers keep denying it, it won't change the truth, whether you like it or not, Sims 4 will keep being here for a long long time, even after Sims 5 releases, and it will keep getting new content and DLC as they promised in October 2022...people can keep their wishes separate from the reality, no matter how much anyone wishes this game to finish, it won't happen anytime soon...sorry if this was harsh, but I always had the feeling TS4 is doing better than many people would assume, so yeah...not happening. This game has lasting power <3

I get that you're a hardcore Sims 4 fan (trust me, I love it too. I've been playing since day one) but the game will most definitely not run along with Rene/5. The Sims 3 was incredibly successful when 4 was announced and it was still accumulating sales by the time it released but the last piece of new content we got was in the summer of '14. Rene could very well come out in 2028 for all we know but given Maxis' history and its current development time, we're looking at a 2025-2026 release.

Also, Rene/5 isn't gonna be the same experience across all platforms. Grant said that the mobile version will be a lite version of the game, kind of like a companion, so it's not gonna affect development as much as you'd think it would.

I'm boycotting Sims 5 in that case. I could care less.
  • If it's out in 2025, I will stop supporting this entire franchise altogether, if that means they want to stop working on Sims 4 with a SEPARATE team that should have absolutely nothing to do with Rene team…Rene will be nothing like 4, for different audiences,..I just know some people will not move to Rene from Sims 4…I am predicting a chaos in the forums the day such a nightmare happened…I am praying that will not need to happen…
  • I have no idea how long they will be making content for the sims 4. And I’m sure there are several factors to consider whether they keep making content beyond when Sims 5 is released. One factor is that as we get more packs we also get more bugs, and many have not been able to be fixed. I’m still having problems with dine out and gardening. Another factor is the performance on computers, if performance from too many packs on a computer starts causing many people problems and people stop buying packs because of that, then I doubt they would keep making packs. As far as I know, they haven’t set a date for the release of sims 5 or a date for the end of sims 4. The two may overlap for awhile, or they may not. .I figure 5 probably won’t come out till at least the end of 2025 the way success of these last packs is going. I can see them coming out with quite a few more packs if performance is not an issue, and people keep buying them. But, of course you never know, because they will be having competition with life by you and paralives, so they may try to bring out sims 5 sooner. These are some future packs I can see them making still for sims 4

    Cars
    Bands
    Fairies
    Hotels and Casino’s
    Medieval
    Into the future

    Possibly:
    Hobbies
    Zombies
    Amusement parks
    Zoo’s
    Water parks
    Super Heroes
    Malls
Another generational type pack as they go over so well.
Maybe another world with beach lots, surfing, …..houseboats, etc.
The addition of more life stages such as preteen, …….younger elder, and/or a stage between toddler and child.

Maybe some things similar to strangerville like
    Castaways

Probably lots of kits hopefully more stuff packs. And hopefully refresher on Get To Work, Dine Out, Outdoor retreat, and Jungle adventures ( the last two making them open to residential, or at least visiting without having to pay for a vacation rental ).

I am sure while EA has been aware of Life By You and Paralives for a few years now, that doesn't mean they are scared of them. Just check the Life by You character designs like omg! So far looking atrocious…Sims is so much better…but hopefully everyone (LBY, Paralives & Sims) can complement each other and the ”competition” can inspire Maxis to do better with future plans with this franchise. The fact that I may seem very upset is because I can't believe how many times people on this forum have been so ”surprised” whenever content like toddlers, infants, horses etc have been confirmed or announced. It's not that impossible to believe they would announce these things as Sims 4 is a computer base game made for paid DLC, it's not a miracle from the sky or something, and yes while I may have disagreed with some here in this thread, they do have good points and concerns about this game's performance issues the more they keep adding new content to the game…I am going to stay cautiously optimistic for Sims 5 but still, they really need to play their cards right this time and not make the same mistakes they did with 4 before launch, the cross platform thing is already making me and some concerned, but we will see…

More careers…. I really need more and I love the option to go into a work place, work at home, or get unpaid time off, all in the same career or job. I also like the side jobs, freelance, doing paid favors for other sims, etc. I would also like to see our sims be able take off unlimited time off to raise children and such without penalties.

I agree, hopefully a little bit of competition will make each of the simulations work harder to please their customers. And you are right some of the simulations don’t look great, at least not right now, but it also depends on how much content there is at the beginning of each of them too, some are supposedly going to start with cars, pets, swimming etc. the price, and the amount and quality of free future updates will matter too, as well as whether we are going to have to pay a monthly fee to use them, rather than out right buy them. I can see a bit of cross function between mobile, pc and gaming systems. I used to love viewing the gallery on my phone, and download the lots to my library. If the cross function is pretty good I might even get myself a new I pad. I already plan on buying a new gaming laptop for the sims 5, but I may not get the sims 5 till I see what’ it’s like on the let’s play’s, I bought my last one in 2018, and of course they’ve added so much to them since then. I’m not shocked myself that they have come out with infants, toddlers, horses, and updates to personalities etc. I’m quite pleased with most of the updates, and packs, and I still see many other things I want as well, such as cars, hotels, casino’s, Medieval pack with world, , malls, and fun things for our sims to do to have fun and/or to make money, like hobbies and amusement parks, concerts, zoo’s etc. so far I have all the packs ( I don’t use mods or CC ), and I certainly want to have many more as long as performance is not an issue.
