You have paid for your game I suppose you can use it whatever way you please. If you have fun styling sims in CAS, that is fine, at least you are using the game. Maybe you could try and tell your story in writing if the game doesn't offer you the assets you need to play it out. Or you could come up with a reason why Faye doesn't have her fairy wings. But to me sounds like you can't get involved into the gameplay, and I doubt that you will play out this story when and if we do get fairies. When the gameplay is captivating you get sucked in and play even if some things are not 100% to your liking and come up with reason why some things are not how you'd like them to be. Personally, I have found that if you don't put too much planning in your characters and stories and just follow the in game prompts, the sims wishes, likes and dislikes, etc., the stories tend to play themselves out and sometimes you end up with unexpected plotlines and I find that more interesting than planning the whole story in advance.
Thanks, but I lost interest in writing stories a long time ago and as for my Sims themselves, I already had their personalities in mind - Mystelle is the wise elderly spellcaster (amuses me really since an elder-specific wise trait is included with the new expansion pack, which I pre-ordered), Louvenia is the overprotective middle-aged werewolf mother who can't catch a break, Cassandrea is a rebellious young adult vampire who is the black sheep of the family and wants to know things outside of the household during the daytime but she can't, Kailanni is a spoiled teenage mermaid who wants to become the next biggest thing in the music industry with her amazing singing skills, Novanna is an alien child-prodigy who knows about literally everything...except for acting like a normal little girl, Fayth is an innocent fairy toddler who keeps the family together, Destini is a happy human infant who's unaware of her family's occult status, and Phantasia the unicorn is basically the family's guardian angel in a way. Also, please don't call this a story, I just wanted to have the basic personalities for my Sims whenever I create this household. Trust me, I'm gonna play out this household once I'm able to. ✨
