By having different saves for different times you can play (and delete and create and play again if you want) as many times as you want. You can just avoid that particular save until you have fairies in game.
Or, if you mostly want the look for fairies, there are several mods/CC that will add them in game until there is real ones in the game.
I don't use mods/CC. I could create another household if I wanted to, but I have a feeling that I'll most likely delete them so it's not even worth it. I'll stick to what I'm doing now but thanks anyways.?♀️
