I don't like to control anything else in the game than my Sims, I don't even have time for it. I want to use my time to actually play the game and not setting up things to be perfect for my gameplay. I've prepaired things in advance a few times for my game and it was driving me nuts, I hate it, so I choose not to do it unless I play a challenge that requires it.
The only things I normally set up either before I start playing a save or shortly afterwards is that I place the community lots I like to use in Newcrest and some other worlds and sometimes I add few Sims in the neighborhood.
I usually have a plan how I want to play with my Sim, but sometimes I change my mind, depending on how things are going. My game style is very slow and I tend to go with the flow. My Sims are the ones who get to decide a lot of things on themselves. Many times my Sims can even choose their spouses, if they happened to get attracted to someone. I also don't use money cheats, I want my Sims to earn their money.
I just want a relaxing gameplay and I don't enjoy controlling things too much. Maybe I'm just lazy or maybe it's because I didn't start playing games until I was in my 40's and I don't know how to do it properly. :D
