Isn't it possible now to have social events on Generic lots?

The new patch (the one from 7. nov) was supposed to enable generic lots for various social gatherings like weddings, b-day parties, etc and I downloaded a church that is designated as a generic lot and plunked it in Newcrest.

I fired up a Sim to test it but the only generic lot I can have a birthdayparty for instance (can't test a wedding as I don't have any engagements in my test game) is the summer house in Windenburg (which, btw is the only other generic lot I have).

Could it be that the testee is a native of Windenburg but not Newcrest? Is that the issue? Although I am pretty sure the other options weren't limited to Windenburg (can't check right now).

  • :D Getting back to the whole lot type dilemma, the other good thing I've found about changing the lot type to something that isn't generic is that your sims can actually show up when there's no social events on. I know for me, downloaded church because I suck at building + lounge lot type + Andrew's Pose Player = actual (semi-)working church, complete with sermons (City Living podium as pulpit), absolution (pose) and one of my Sims having a major freakout in the back pew (make him sad and let him cry... I feel terrible saying that). P.S. I've made mine a lounge as I only had to add a couple of loveseats, so I made a youth group area.
  • they just should finally release a "Wedding & Special Occassions" GP

unfortunately it's probably too hard to make nowadays
