Issues I have with Sims YouTubers. (With Proof)

I'm sick of them releasing the same type of videos with the same type of opinions around the same time as eachother. Do they not have any originality? Any of their own thoughts or opinions? Or do they just like to agree with eachother on every negative/positive of the game.

There are 4 Sims YouTubers I believe are the main sources of these issues. Deligracy, Plumbella, LilSimsie, and James Turner.

In one of LilSimsie's videos she stated that the Sims YouTubers all have a group chat or something with eachother and frankly this actually shows with the content that they put out scheduled around the same times as each other with similar opinions and thoughts.

Before I post my evidence I want to say do not send hate to these YouTubers. I do not hate them I just wish that they would vary their content more. Also I know there are many, many other Sims YouTubers I just wanted to focus on these 4 for now as they have the best examples of what I am trying to say. Okay:

Exhibit A. Discover University Acceptance letters. I understand their videos are sponsored by EA and since they are EA game changers they need to post these videos but it got so out of hand. EA should understand that we viewers that like watching Sims YouTubers don't want to watch the same type of video 24 times. They should have done something else to promote the EP like email everyone an acceptance letter and not force people to create a video about it?

Exhibit C. Island Living love/hate. It seems like they could not decide whether they liked the EP or not. When it was first reviewed they made it out like it was an amazing EP but now they all hate it.

I don't understand the attraction of watching sims youtubers in the first place.

Deli and James are best friends, they often film at each other's home and visit each other etc... I'm not surprised they collaberated on an idea, or that they collab with each other on ideas. Brainstorming together probably helps them come up with more good ideas and we get better content.

They each have a diff style though, and despite producing videos with a similar theme I do prefer to watch some over others.

I think the styles is the only kinda different thing between them all. However it would be good to see some from fresh content and not a lot of the same things going on. I forgot to add Plumbella does seem to be the only one that does do her own thing from time to time which is good.

I’m pretty sure the ‘uninstalling every pack but one’ videos are sponsored by EA. It should say so in the description.
Also having your own save file is pretty popular. There many people who do that, even non-youtubers.
And Planet Zoo is a very popular game. While it isn’t something I’m interested in, I’m sure many others are

I honestly just believe that they get inspired by each other a lot, which is fine. Either that or the videos are sponsored by EA. Would more variety be nice? Sure, it always is. But if I’m not interested in any videos they put out, i just find something else to watch ?‍♀️

James has a whole other channel for non-sims stuff. He actually posts almost as frequently as lilsimsie, but not as much on Sims Stuff.

As for Planet Zoo, I do think they contacted several prominent Sims players and gave them copies and not just those four. Several of them were also given behind the scenes experiences at the San Diego Zoo as part of Planet Zoo's promotional lead up when they were all at an event in the area. (It's also a very cool game that I need to play more.)

But seriously, I think you're seeing patterns where they don't exist. Humans are good at that. I only follow six Youtube Simmers myself - those 4 and two others, mostly for Build tips. All of them had a flurry of tiny builds after Tiny Living. Sometimes one will see what another does and think "hey, that's a good idea, let me make my spin on it" and sometimes it's spontaneous parallel creation - happens all the time in movies and writing. Part of why in the US, you can't copyright an idea, just the expression of that idea.

Interesting, but no one is gonna be like, "Hey, the viewers are gonna watch the same video like 20 times. We should probably do something different each."

Why? Cuz not everyone watches all the sim youtubers. I for one don't. So if one of them posts something and another posts another topic, I might miss one of the topics.

They're technically coworkers who happen to be friends or at least friendly since they attend the same events (hence the group chat). And they react a lot to the same time-sensitive events (community SP votes, anniversary, pack releases, new game releases, CC packs). And sometimes their de facto boss asks them to make a specific type of video (uninstalling packs, 20yr flashback, new pack reviews, pre-release events like the acceptance letter).

Around all that, they have their own videos. James has his LP along with his other channel with non-Sims stuff, Deli did her LPs and is now focusing on her new puppy, Plumbella did a bunch of flashback old Sims games videos, Lilsimsie does builds and build challenges. Sometimes there might be overlap, other times there's not.

If you're only watching 4 Simtubers, you'll get bored easily. Maybe venture out to others, these four aren't the only ones out there. (EnglishSimmer, Vixella, Aveline, Dr Ashley, Marmelad, Ms Gryphi, Claire Siobhan, and many many more, just throwing out the ones that came to mind) Variety is the spice of life ;)

My favourites to watch are Carl, Deli, Kelsey & James. I do like LilSimsie and Claire once in awhile too, depending on the video but I don't have time to watch all of them so I'm more picky on which ones I click on haha. Not a fan of Plumbella or the LGR.

I don't have much time to watch many simmers on YouTube, so I just watch james and deli sometimes, if I 'm too tired to play by myself. Because I like their calm voices, James with his rags for riches series and deli with her buildings. The other I don't like because I found them too hyperactive and artificial when I saw/listened them for the first time. But I don't mind them when they all do the same content at the same time, because all earn their money with it. It's a hard work recording, planning and editing the content, you can't stopped with so many fans easily when a game doesn't make fun to you anymore. I just cringe everytime when all have a shocked open mouth picture on their videos. This looks so stupid.

So you mean the most popular builder simstubers who all happen to be in close contact with each other? This is the equivalent of getting mad at gaming channels for playing the same popular game; even dumber since they are all playing the same game, are exposed to the same challenges, and are expected to react to the same events. If this bothers you so much you need to diversify your pallet of simstubers with CAS creators and different LPs—this is a you problem, not a them problem.
