Issues with tedious/boring conversations

So all of the sudden in my most recent game (just a standard play with the computer whiz aspiration) every single conversation my sim has with someone new immediately becomes tedious/boring. So then of course my sim becomes embarrassed and loses on the friendship meter. Now in all of my previous games my sims could chat for hours and IF (this was rare) the convo turned boring, I was able to influence it immediately to the other direction. It's making it awfully hard to gain relationships. Could this be a bug, or maybe my MCCC not being updated? Or could this have to do with a sim trait or lot trait? I could just be having bad luck :D

Start with "Get To Know" or "Discuss Interests". Undirected conversation will be steered by your Sim's (geeky, techie) interests, likely boring to others. Are you directing the conversational flow, or just letting the Sim go on autopilot? For best results, choose interactions for them.

Those are always the ones I start with. I'll mix those in with the ask about career, brighten day, deep convo...this is one of my first times playing with the geek trait. Could it be the "enthuse about new show" and video game topics that is doing it? I had been tossing those in there in between as I'll select how ever many interactions I can queue and let it go.
  • Honestly, after about a month of playing Sims 4 with that grind, I looked up cheats to skip all that. I only do that now if it's part of what I'm focusing on. I mean seriously, I had Don Lothario chase down and 'friendly, funny, romantic' chat with every woman that happened to pass by on the street. Fill up the queue. When it runs out, pause, fill up the queue again...

    Lather, rinse, repeat... :D :p

In most of my games I use MCCC to help with relationship gain because depending on traits it can definitely be difficult. But for some reason I wanted to challenge myself and try not to use cheats. Needless to say because of this I just cheated for my relationships :D
  • I cheat my sims relationships all the time, after I have them properly introduce themselves, to learn all traits. Maybe I'll have them ask about career, so that gets filled in too. If my sim gets someone on friendslist without introduction, I delete the relationship with MCCC and start over. I use UI Cheats from there on out (just right click sim portrait and add in numbers), if I care enough or my sim needs friends for an aspiration or something. The game pushes other sims on yours all the time. Just notice in a community lot with both known and unknown sims....the unknowns will absolutely want to talk to your sim. In my experience, no exception.

The trait topics, like "Enthuse about new show" is only interesting to sims with the same trait. Other sims will find the topics boring, so the conversation will more or less go sour. I've read that cloud/stargazing is a really fast way to gain relationship, but I never use them so I don't know. Its still not as fast as cheating o:)
  • I don't use MCCC for anything much in game anymore. Just the extending the days for each age and the teleport thing if they get stuck (Which hasn't happened lately after the last updates)
