Crinrict: I've updated all of my mods and gotten rid of old mods that I really had no use for now. Also have repaired the game 2x and made sure that I don't have any real conflicts w/my cc files. I use the TS4 Package Conflict Detector to keep my files clean of any possible problems w/the game.
The one time that "Modify in CAS" worked correctly, I was able to fully edit the Host sim -- his weight, facial appearance, traits/life aspiration and clothes/hair etc. All of the other times, I can only edit the actual appearance of the sim... so not sure why the full edit actions are glitching the majority of the time.
