JA: Relic value decreasing?

So, my sim dug up some ancient golden plate in Selvadorada and I'm pretty sure it was worth about §10,000. Yayyy!

She kept is as an decor object, a bit nervous when learning that the Maid was kleptomaniac, but it all went fine. Several years later I checked the value of the golden plate - it is now only about §8,100!

Do artifacts decrease in value over time? If any change, I would expect their value to increase as the value is high because of their age... I did not check any other relics, but I really do not hope that this old stuff do "spoil" over time...

  • I think everything decreases in value a bit once you place it in your lot, so it's just normal build/live devaluation. (a 10K bed will only sell for about 8K if I remember)

Ok, thanks. Just a bit surprised that this also happens to valuable ancient treasures found in the wild. Those items should not be affected like a lamp or door mat, or a 1k bed, in my opinion ;)
  • I agree with you. It appears these items are coded like ordinary objects, not rare antiques. Someone goofed on that one.

Autographs increase in value. I think it would've made sense for relics to also increase.

Yeah, I remember from previous iterations, that art actually increase in value. Even paintings your sims made and hung on the wall. The Selvadorada treasures, like the calendar plates and frogs, should be considered art, absolutely.
  • I remember that and agree with you. Why does EA break/remove everything that worked in the old versions?
